Ordered a 3rd 670 last night. The 2600k pulls about 800W while under load. The 2700k pulls under 500W while under load. At idle the box pulls under 140W. I have barely touched the 2600k since I put this 2700k together with two 670's. Ordered the 3rd to run Max Payne 3 at maxed settings (due to over 8 GB of memory being called for at 5760x1080/.3240x1920).
If I was the OP I'd definitely trade up the GTX 570. I had four of them at one point, but am now down to two. Would sell them for $250 each or less for a friend. The energy consumption on the 670 is incredible when compared to the 580 and 570.

OK thanks for the advice. DO you think the vanilla 670 is OK or go for the FTW version for sure?

You won't get any more memory capacity by adding a 3rd 670 I hate to say. I mean, it might look that way in the Max Payne settings screen, but it doesn't calculate capacity exactly correctly. Like if it now says you need 8200/8000, if you took one card out it'd say 4100/4000 required, and when you add the third card, it'll say 12300/12000 required. You cannot add memory capacity by adding more cards.

Fortunately though the difference between 4xAA and 8xAA is almost entirely invisible anyways. Heck I play it with FXAA + 2xAA and I see no jaggies in the game aside from on some shadows ... and those wouldn't go away with 8xAA anyways.

For me the moral of the story is quite simple: Do not buy from Newegg ever again. I don't really care what their reputation is - it's undeserved. Having arbitrary replacement-only policies on certain items is just misleading. And the 15% restocking fee is bogus. My friend ordered a bunch of parts and returned half of them still shrink-wrapped but had to pay 15%. By contrast, Amazon has absolutely no-questions-asked returns on anything, fast and free shipping (including free return shipping), immediate gift-card return option, and totally top-notch customer service. They do charge sales tax in New York state, but it's worth it. I won't be using Newegg again.

Cant say that I blame you. I may use them for their egg saver deals or whatever but Im pro Amazon from now on as well. thumb.gif

Well guys, I must say I'm incredibly impressed by Amazon's ebay-like 'Sell Yours' function. I put my 570 up there on Saturday, then benchmarked on BF3 and concluded I was quite satisfied with my card at my resolution. However I forgot to take it off Amazon. Within 10 hours it'd sold (I listed for $224). And it turns out the buyer works very close to me, so no shipping required either.

I'm now a fan of Amazon both as a seller and a buyer. Ordered my 670 FTW from there last night. They do charge sales tax in NY, but I just view that as a service charge for excellent customer service and fantastic returns. God knows I pay enough taxes for craptastic services in NYC as it is.
