Water Cooling advice/help

Thread Starter
I've been doing a lot of reading and planning over the past week on a build and decided to go water cooling for my over clocking.
I plan to OC the CPU and GPU.
These are the parts to my computer build:

Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz
ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 LGA 1155 Intel Z77
GIGABYTE GV-N680OC-2GD GeForce GTX 680 2GB
SeaSonic X750 Gold 750W Full Modular
COUGAR CF-V12HB Vortex (Fans I think will be good for rad, if wrong let me know)
Thermaltake Chaser MK-I Full Tower
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133191
(Link to case if needed)

Now to the water cooling parts I've picked out so far:

EK-Supremacy CPU Water Block - Acetal + EN (Nickel)
- Fitting Size 1/2" Barb for 1/2" ID tube

X-Flow Black Ice Pro II High Performance Radiator - Black
- Fitting Size 3/8" OD

Laing DDC-pump 12V DDC-1T

XSPC Premium Laing DDC Clear Acrylic Top - Version 3.0

XSPC Acrylic Dual 5.25” Split Bay Reservoir
- Nozzles No Nozzles

EK-FC680 GTX - Acetal + EN (Nickel) CSQ
- Fitting Size 1/2" Barb for 1/2" ID tube

Tubing and fittings I'm at a loss at.
I do know I want compression fittings but that's about it besides black.

And besides watching some youtube videos I don't know all that much about this.
I am reading guilds here so they are helping me.

Is what I used for my WCing.
Watch out for ID & OD for tubing/fitting sizes.

With the tubing how many feet would I need?
First build so screw ups may and probably will occur lol.

And and how many fittings?
If my idea / math is good I'd need 10 fittings?

I ordered 15 ft smile.gif
To be honest, you only need maybe 8-10 ft.

10 fittings should be plenty. I ordered 10 fittings and 4 barbs just in case and those did come in handy for my reservoir.
But I have 1 more rad, 1 gpu more in my setup.

Quick question, do you have that case already?
If not, I recently bought a NZXT 810 Gunmetal for a little bit more than that and it's a really good case for WC.

No I don't have it yet, I'm going to order everything at once when it's planned out to great lengths and when I come back from my trip to South Carolina.

And I was actually suggested that case and decided to go with it, didn't see gun metal though.

So with my CPU and GPU cooling the 1 rad I picked will be plenty or should I go bigger or more then one?
With the NZXT case I seem to have the space to do it.

Just to play it safe and since I do have $1,000 set aside for WC I'll get 15 feet lol.

For tubing I really like Primochill LRT tubing. It comes in a bunch of colors and is really resistant to kinking. I used the 3/8 inch inner diameter and 5/8 outer diameter tubing, which has worked great. I have pics of it available if you look at my gallery. With compression fittings I have used both the Phobya fittings and the XSPC fittings and I did not like them. I went with them because they were cheap, but quality does matter here. I now use the Koolance compression fittings and love them. Checkout the EK fittings and of course the Bitspower fittings.

On my first build I got 10 ft of tubing and I had plenty left over, but that was great for me as I re-did my loop a few times.

Are you going for an orange theme on the inside of your build? Don't the cougar fans have orange blades? If the color doesn't matter as much then I would go with some Gentle Typhoon AP-15''s or AP-14's. Static Pressure is what matters for pushing air through a radiator and the Gentle Typhoons have great static pressure. I think they cost just a little more than the Cougar fans. Personally I love the Bitfenix Spectre Pro fans. Their build quality is superb, they are near silent, and the LED's on them emit a pleasant amount of light.

I think you are right about the amount of fittings you need being 10. Also one last thing, the radiator you selected benefits from having a mid to high rpm fan, which the gentle typhoons would give you.

That radiator won't be enough.

For every water block have at least 120 rad and 1 extra for OCing headroom.
So 1 CPU, 1 GPU, need at least a 360.

Also I have a heatkiller water block for my 680s. They cool really well. I just found it more appealing than the EKs.

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=25389 is really popular at the moment and performs well.

Gentle Typhoons are great, I have the AP15s controlled by FC-9 smile.gif

Since I'm over clocking does this mean the 360 isn't enough?

EDIT
Read it again (head ache could be all this research or that my current GPU just died, running off integrated GPU -.- ) and did the math.
360 includes the OC'ing I see.

360 is should be enough.
1 GPU, 1 CPU + 1 for OCing both= 1 360.
If you do add on another GPU block down the road, then add another radiator.

I have a 360 rad and a 140 rad for 2 GPU and 1 CPU with overclock.
