$600 Budget Upgradeable Gaming Rig Assistance Needed

Thread Starter
Hi,

Tomorrow I'll be getting a paycheck and have been wanting a PC dedicated to gaming but can only delegate $600 (+/-) at the moment.

Approximate Purchase Date: preferably within the week

Budget Range: $600, really don't want to go over that

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Want to be able to play BF3 on decent settings with 30+ fps, then play other games naturally

Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, speakers, OS, EDIT: Don't need a case or optical drive

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: been browsing newegg, but honestly don't care. There are no local stores, so have to order.

Country: USA

Parts Preferences: What ever works.

Overclocking: What ever works

SLI or Crossfire: No

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 preferably

Additional Comments: It can be ugly as all hell, I just would like a quad core with 4/8GB of RAM and a nice GPU to run games from the get go.

I have been browsing around and looked into this in the past, but never built a PC before, just upgraded an old junker last year. Intel seems to have better performance for the hardware, but AMD has better bang for the buck. nVidia seems to be best GPU, and I like the sounds of the 560Ti and seems semi affordable if I can keep everything else down. Though again, I'm a newbie at this and feel overwhelmed with all the things to choose and make sure they are compatible; and again I mainly want to upgrade over time but have a good base platform that I can run current games with before I begin upgrading in a few months (if that can be done within my budget)

Thanks for any help, sniv

EDIT: Don't need a case or optical drive

Best I could do.
Maybe somebody can come and edit it to make it cheaper.
Its really hard to do that considering the lowest price 1080P monitor is $100 so its only $500 you have to work with. =/

Everything here comes with free shipping, but NCIX requires over $50, under 200lbs orders for free shipping. This is not a list of the cheapest of the cheap, but rather the best bang for the buck. If you're going to buy from the very bottom of the barrel, you may as well get higher end used stuff. Plus this is going to be a main gaming rig, not a secondary browsing computer, it should consist of reliable brands and products.

Processor
$84 (/w $15 PromoCode) AMD Phenom II X4 955 Deneb 3.2GHz (Amazing Bang/Buck, esp. with $15 promo code: DADSRULE)

$90 (/w $10 PromoCode) AMD Phenom II X4 955 Deneb 3.2GHz (Amazing Bang/Buck, esp. with $10 promo code: HARDOCPX613B)

Motherboard
$38 - ASUS M5A78L-M LX Plus mATX AM3+ (only 3+1 Phase, overclocking could get a bit dangerous, but all Asus boards have safety shutoffs so it should be fine, correct me if I'm wrong AMD guys)

Graphics Card
$110 after $15MIR - MSI HD7770 (1x 6pin)

$180 - MSI Radeon HD 6870 Twin Frozr II (Great performance/price) (2x 6pin)

$180 after $20MIR - MSI Radeon HD 6870 Hawk II (2x 6pin)

$220 - EVGA GeForce GTX 480 (Great performance/price, but gets really hot) (1x 6pin, 1x 8pin)

Memory
$40 - Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 7-7-7-24 (Very nice timings for AMD build)

$45 - Mushkin Enhanced Blackline Frostbyte PC3-12800 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 9-9-9-24 1.5V (Overclocked my friends to ~1700MHz, everything else stock, reliable brand)

$45 - AMD Performance Edition 8GB 2X4GB PC3-10667U DDR3 1333MHz 8-8-8 1.5V (Tighter timings out of the box, I'm unsure as to the quality of the RAM)

Storage
$60 - 500GB Samsung F3 (One of the most popular)

$90 - 500GB Momentus XT (One of the Fastest HDD, proud owner!)

Optical Drive
$17 - Liteon IHAS124 24X DVD Writer (Good deal)

CPU Cooler
$23 - CM Hyper 212+ (The most popular budget cooler, proud owner!)

Power Supply
$35 - Antec Neo Eco 450C (Great reviews, Great deal,1x 6pin PCI-E)

$70 - Antec HCG-620M (Great reviews, Great deal, 2x 6+2pin PCI-E)

Cases:
$36 - NZXT Gamma (Great case, I've worked with it, definitely worth the price)

$36 - Bitfenix Merc Alpha Mid-Tower Case (Great case, I've worked with it, but I'd wait for a better deal)

Monitor
$133 after $10MIR - Asus VE228H 21.5

Total (Buying Cheapest From Above List)

$548 before rebates

$523 after rebate
($15MIR from MSI HD7770 & $10MIR from Asus VE228H)
