If that's the final product I won't be using it. I use maps a lot already (new driver doesn't know where anything is haha) and I'll use it a lot more soon when I go off to college!

Facepalm dude, their current maps have all the street names, they just show less information at each level than Google.

No the picture above is not the final product its pre beta. (If you had actually read the article)

So we are taking a step backwards? No transit instructions = deal breaker for me. I use transit plenty throughout the whole bay and rely on this feature for precision with any plan. Also not happy about losing street view here in the transition as I snap shots to send to my friends of where to meet me simultaneously. Unless they can fix this stuff I will be looking at some Nexus of Note Android phones when my iPhone 4 dies. For sure I'm not upgrading from iOS 5.1.1 and already have my blobs saved.

I said it before. Its not going to happen.

Google maps has stolen the market. It'll be basically impossible to take it out now.

I can see someone using apple maps having difficulty finding the side streets but besides that it looks fine.

This. Exactly this.

EDIT: I can't say much right now because of the NDA but Apple's Maps is leagues above what Google Maps offered on iOS. I wish they'd just zoom in though and show the difference.

Mapples. Genius.

On a serious note though, it's not surprising that something that Apple has is inferior to something Google has.

Yup. Google even have their own fleet of cars and planes. Apple have...not a great deal in comparison.

Apple will constantly be playing catchup while Google are driving the technology way ahead
Also, Apple need to learn when to take photos

Google take the photos when the sun is directly above to reduce shadows, Apple on the other hand...
