Corsair Force 3 200MB/s Read and Write SATA 3 Chipset

So like the title says.

I recently switched from a GA-790XT-UD4P (SATA 2) to a GA-890FXA-UD7 (SATA 3) and saw absolutely no improvement in SSD speed at all. I'm getting identical speeds in CrystalDiskMark as I was on the SATA 2 connection.

Its running in AHCI mode. Enabled before fresh install of W7 and doubt checked in the registry. All is good, and it is running in AHCI mode correctly.

Am I missing something?

Just tried 3 different SATA ports and nothing. Would using a different SATA cable do anything?

Also, the SATA 3 controller is enabled in the BIOS. Speaking of which, would a BIOS update be worth a shot? The latest BIOS update is a beta version.

Crystal disk mark uses uncompressible data, which the sandforce 2000 series controllers (in the corsair force 3 series) do not handle well. Try the atto disk benchmark instead and you will see much more favorable results, because it uses compressible data biggrin.gif

I see now. I just ran ATTO and got this:

656

So it looks like it's running at correct speeds then. biggrin.gif

Thanks, and + rep to you.

SandForce controllers are very decent, but the compressible data speeds are a bit of a gimmick, since other controllers these days achieve similar or better speeds without compressing data. This means that they technically perform better since an OS uses in-compressible data like... half of the time.
