Corsair AF-120 Performance - Mini Review

Thread Starter
I just installed my AF120s and though I'd give a little feed back on them. I don't have much experience with case fans, I own a lot of other Corsair products and their quality has been excellent, so I assumed their fans would be too, glad I was correct. I purchased the two pack, they came with four screws, an inline resistor and the color rings. I left the ring color red as I have no particular theme going with this case and red looked the best otherwise. I have a 500R which comes with no exhaust fan on top, originally I had put a CM 140 and the rear case fan which this came with mounted to exhaust on the top, my H80 replaced the rear exhaust fan. I broke the blade on the CM 140 and just decided to buy two to match on top. Once I installed them which was extremely easy, I was surprised the amount of air being moved in comparison to the old fans, it's hard to describe but I'd say 2-2.5 more times air feels like it's coming out. I can't accurately tell you how they rate to other high performance case fans but they are quiet and move a lot of air and look pretty good as well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these to anyone who needs good exhaust fans, I'll probably be purchasing an SP 120 for the intake on the bottom and another AF120 for the remaining fan slot I need to fill. Pics upon request.

For the 550D, should I keep the stock intake fans, or replace them with the sp120, or the af-120? I'm looking for a good balance between noise and performance. The stock intake fans are probably quiet, but I've read they don't have much airflow.

Correct it is the silent case. I wish I knew the specs of the stock fans, would make my choice easier redface.gif. I am taking one of the drive bays out, as it is not needed.

In my experience stock case fans are pretty mediocre, even from a good company like Corsair.

Do you have any Gentle Typhoons (Ap15) to compare against these fans? Would like to know how they fare against each other

well my first impression of these fans have been good. Even running two as intakes at 100% is not loud at all.
