Upgrade from AM3 to 1155

Thread Starter
It's time to upgrade PC(X4 965BE+CH4F+HD5870).
Graphic card will stay first one-two months but i plan to buy GTX580 Classified and need Intel.
I decide to use new EVGA Z77 FTW motherboard but for CPU I can't decide.
Always change mind. Options are 3770k or 2700k.
What are you think??? What Intel say about bad thermal interface in Ivy???
Maybe some revisione??? I decide only for motherboard - Z77 FTW.
I have one more week time to decide. This is upgrade for nex 3-3.5 years.
I use one graphic card and don't need to change CPU on every second generation.
Custom Watercooling is not plan. I have CORSAIR H70 and I think to stay little with that cooler.
I am not extreme overclocker but love to OC little and later mid OC.
I tell you everything but don't know what to do???

I would save the money and go with the 2500k because you are not going to be using the HT when overclocking.thumb.gif

As long as you don't fold or use graphical production applications you have no need for an i7.
And i5 (2500k or 3570k) perform the same as the respective i7 counterpart (2600k and 3770k) in everything HT is not used. (meaning: gaming)

So in case of gaming: the i7 will not provide you a longer "look at how fast my rig is" feeling then an i5 will. (btw, an SSD will ensure this feeling for years to come, but of course has nothing to do with processing performance)

The 3570k is slightly more powerful then the 2500k. When you OC heavy, they will end up performing the same due to the Ivy Bridge problem with dissipating heat.
If you OC slightly or mildly, the Ivy Bridge will be of benefit. And the price difference isn't spectacular, so I say go for the 3570k. or the 3770k if you're hellbend on an i7.

All of the said processors are in a different league then any AMD offerings wink.gif

I OC 4.0-4.5GHz, In first time 4.0GHz.
I use one graphic no need for extreme OC.
But i7 is important.
