Whether iPhone owners care or not, Google Maps will no longer be part of Apple’s mobile core when iOS 6 hits in the fall. Really, it was only a matter of time before Apple offered its own maps after we learned the company swooped up Placebase, C3 Technologies and Poly9. We’re going to take a look...

I don't know why anyone isn't showing any comparisons when zoomed in closer... Apple's Maps app is just showing less information at the same zoom level.

No idea. o_O

I'm really looking forward to see how Apple progresses with this though.

Yeah me too... I've been playing around with Apple's Maps and I think it's great so far and definitely leaps and bounds above what Google has offered on iOS. I don't know what Google Maps are like on Android though.

Over time all the maps will be updated to the high quality vector maps, until then the low quality maps are tolerable.

Hm, Google maps is pretty much the same on Android and iOS. The only real difference is the Android version actually has a true turn by turn GPS navigation system, and I think better Places navigation due to it being integrated into Android.

But, I had Navigon for my iPhone 4, and it was awesome, so there's always alternatives. (it was $60 though)

I have more apps purchased for my iPhone than I do for my Android. O_o
