The enhancements are free dlc, not the port

15gb of Texture enhancements, optimizations, more maps and chapter extensions.

Its like how BF3 has the premium package, but if it was free.

I think you misunderstood my post, I am aware that pc gaming offers better visuals than a console.

optimizations, more maps, and chapter extensions have nothing to deal with graphics.

In my opinion, yes we still do need consoles. I don't really care for them (I have an Xbox 360 for the two yearly games I can't get on pc: WWE and Madden), but I sure as hell don't want live in a world where people who don't know jack about pc's want to play their games on one.
What makes the consoles great if their ease of use, anyone from a 3-year old (trust me, my 4-year-old son has been playing on the Wii for quite some time) to a 120-year old, from a tech guru to an illiterate redneck, can play on a console.

I think most of us in our younger years remember playing on SOME sort of console, be it NES, Genesis, SNES, n64, PS1, PS2 or the original Xbox. But there was always respect and importance for the PC in the past. I personally feel that this generation of consoles changed that balance, for the worse which is why we tend to see a lot of contempt for this generation of consoles. But if for a moment, we look at the WHOLE big picture of what role consoles used to play in our childhood and in gaming, I think we can all appreciate that the concept of a gaming console is not a bad thing overall and should remain. And the same goes for PC gaming, we need just as good PC gaming as we do CONSOLE gaming.

You're bringing me down memory lane, the only console I did not have in those you cited is the n64.

The fun thing is, I started on computer with the C64, then moved to consoles, then came back to pc at the time with a Pentium 120 MHz. Since then, I've mostly been a pc gamer, though the fact that some games are only available on consoles means that most of the time, I owned a current-gen console at the same time for those exclusives.

I'm not denigrating consoles at all, it's just that their public reach is much larger than a pc. I was proud as heck when I saw my son my 3-year old son playing on the Wii on his own. Obviously it was a kid's game, but now he's barely over 4 and he's playing party games that can be played by adults too. I actually have to restrict him access to the console otherwise he'd spend hours on end playing it, while at the same time liking the fact that he's just like I was, only years earlier than me! redface.gif

I'm sure most of us on this forum have lived the experience of being called over by family and friends to solve a pc issue. Would you like to be called because the latest high-graphics game does not work on your little cousin 250$ budget pc?

Good thing i don't talk to my cousins tongue.gif jk, but I see your point, like I said, consoles definitely have their place, but so does pc gaming.
