Samsung Wonder Memory - Page 4

I picked up an FX-4170 today, and as expected the Samsung 30 nm is really shining now. I am running the FX@ 4.5 Ghz with the settings from the ASUS AI suite Auto-OC and the memory is zipping along @ 2032 Mhz! The only things I changed were the RAM timings, from 10-11-10 to 9-10-9. Prime95 is the only program I have tried with the new CPU that has issues- I think it needs to re-install with the new hardware so I have not officially stress tested this setup yet. But, I did run Supreme Commander with a 120kmx120km map and 7 AI's@1,000 units for over an hour and had no hitches. SC finds hardware errors about as quick as P95 I think, so I suspect that these settings will test stable. thumb.gif

This is with 16 GB of RAM installed!

That is a really good score for pushing 16GB smile.gif

As far as your instability, you might need to look at your secondary and tertiary timings.

If you would like some help on that, just post a screenshot of AMD Overdrive with the memory tab open. It shows everything.

Also; about testing memory timings, memtest enough, or should I prime it again? Currently running Memtest loops on my sig rig, and it's passing at DDR3-1600, with timings of 7-8-7-16, 1T. Subtimings 4-6-4-20-4, stock volts. Love this stuff.

I recently purchased this same memory (MV-3V4G3/US) for my 955 Deneb.

I tried your timings 7-8-8-24 1T @1.55V in your sig. Sadly, my rig won't even post with 4x4 GB with those timings. Maybe that's why. What's the extra 24 or 20 in the timings?

Anyone running 4 sticks of this stuff with a Deneb?

Edit: 8-8-8-24 1T @1.50V still won't even post redface.gif

Edit 2: 9-9-9-24 1T @1.50V will boot but I get memory errors in Win 8.

Edit 3: 10-10-10-28 1T @1.50V also has errors.

I'm also running memtest86+ at stock timings just to make sure it isn't a bad memory issue. So far, so good.

Try giving your CPU-NB voltage a boost to handle more speed, lower timings and more throughput.

Ok I increased the CPU-NB voltage by 0.2V and I still saw memory error with memtest86+ at 9-9-9-24 @DRAM 1.5V. No errors at stock timings and voltages.

Are there other voltages that would effect this? I wonder if my memory while not defective is simply a bad for overclocking. frown.gif

Or OC'ing with 4 DIMMs is simply not in the cards.

Ok with my NB-CPU @ 1.4V, 9-9-9-24 2T appears to be stable.
