Samsung Wonder Memory - Page 6

Is it worth it, if I get these 2x4gb ram kit for $30.
!!! that is very cheap. It's up to £50 for a kit in the UK. I think that would be around $80.
on amazon it's $35, and I had the Black Friday $5 off of $25. So it became $30+ $2(tax). Fancy Samsung magic ram name convinced me to get it

Mine is an FX platform though.

I've tried all the way up to 1.6v - no cheese

Have you tried it on lower Voltage? They shouldn't really have any more than 1.55 put through them. You may just be unlucky I'm afraid. Some kits will clock better than others. Though if you can't even post at 1800Mhz I would suggest an RMA.

I have not tried lower voltage - but higher voltage wouldn't cause it not to post would it?

Mine is quite fussy. Too high and it won't post. If I let the motherboard set the voltage itself I get a crash loop and Windows wont boot. Could just be my system of course.

I just managed to order a pair from Newegg before they sold out AGAIN.
I'm anxious to see what kind of clockrate they can handle for my APU graphics.
Graphics memory bandwidth makes me happy. thumb.gif

I sure hope they give me more than my Ripjaws X 1600 (CL8) can,
but that pretty much means I'm hoping for the big 2400 OC.
It's kinda hard not to get your hopes up with terms like "magic" and "Wonder RAM" though. lol

I am also toying with the idea of grabbing a couple heatspreaders and/or RAM fans.
Prices are cheap, so much that it's nearly worth it just for looks.
(dual fan for $12, spreaders are $3.20 each)
I know a lot of people say they run plenty cool,
but I do admit I may very well end up raising the voltage a good bit (even >1.5v).

Anyone think it could be neccessary?
And would standard sized spreaders even fit well enough to work on these little guys...?
(I've never messed with spreaders before)
