Buying new audio stuff! Need Help!

Thread Starter
Ok, up until this point my audio system has consisted of a simple logitech 2.1 system. Works alright, but I think I'm ready to take the next step.

Newegg is having a nice sale this weekend and I'm thinking about picking up some new equipment, but want to make sure it will all work.

I want to get these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882117405

as well as one of these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882117402

Now my question is, do I need to get anything else to make this work? Or can I just run a 3.5mm --> RCA cable from my computer into the sub, which would in turn run the signal to the speakers?

I am pretty much a noob at sound equipment, so all help is greatly appreciated. thumb.gif

I could be wrong, but I think your need a amp

edit
I'm more into headphones and not speakers

edit2
well with the sub you should not need an amp
a 3.5mm to RCA cable should work

You need an an amp for the speakers.

The sub has it's built in amp, but only for the subwoofer.

So looking at amps. Was also considering doing a 5.1 computer speaker setup (smaller stuff, little easier). However, none of the speakers that come with those systems have any way to mount them (weather it be to a stand, to the wall, nothing). So my new question is, has anyone used a system like this, and if so how did you have it configured? I really don't have anywhere behind me to set them, as my room is kind of long, so everything is pretty far away from my computer. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

The Logitech 5.1 systems that I have seen have been wall mountable. Excluding the z506.

Are you asking how a 5.1 system with those Pioneer speakers will be set up?

No if I were to do 5.1 I would go with a Logitech or Creative. Something smaller. Just wasn't sure if there was a way to configure them without having to run them way back behind me. With the pioneers I assume I would just do 2.1 (for now. This stuff gets so addicting)

The sub only has low level and hi level inputs. There is no outputs, plus high level inputs are only when there is current coming in from a speaker amplifier.

You could get speaker stands so you wouldn't have to wire them all the way back, but that would cost almost as much as the speaker themselves.

As for amp there is the Dayton DTA-1. Not the most powerful or best, but it should get the job done for cheap.
