While it's clear Microsoft isn't planning to introduce its next-generation Xbox console this year, all signs indicate that a 2013 launch is on the cards. A newly leaked 56-page document sheds some light on the company's plans, for what it calls the "Xbox 720." The presentation appears to be from August 2010, and references future improvements like SmartGlass, a Metro dashboard, and Xbox TV apps. Alongside its incremental Xbox 360 updates, Microsoft has a clear vision for its next-generation Xbox 720 console — we've dug into its plans to bring you the best bits.

I don't get which genius started to use the name Xbox '720' since the launch of the 360. And if they actaually are going to name it that way.... I doubt they will call it 720 though.

I like the Xbox 720 name. I think after though they need to be a little more creative. I've been calling it the 720 code name for as long as it's been rumored.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I've been calling it that as well because it's what it was called by everyone. But I'm sure the first guy writing about it must be chuckling in his hand when they actually call it that.

Unless it's got some killer first party content like Nintendo or Sony, I'm out.

Gears of War doesn't interest me one bit, Halo interests me when the fanboys aren't claiming its the second comming, and Forza is an interesting game, but nothing to drive me insane.

Still till this day I don't know why Microsoft doesn't use all those Rare IP's it has access to.

I don't ever see where websites get these ridiculous prices from. I think they just pull them out of thin air. $299? Do they really expect me to believe it will be that cheap? The 6 year old Xbox 360 is still $349.99 with Kinect. Yes, there's a 4GB model but that is kinda pointless because it barely holds game saves and it certainly can't be the media hub they want it to be. So this new XBox with Kinect 2 is going to be $50 less than the old one? No way. Unless they have some kind of subscription that you HAVE to buy along with it, which seems unlikely. I don't even see a 4GB, Xbox 720 without a Kinect 2 being $299. It's just not feasible, unless they are going to barely even upgrade the hardware. Not to mention that gives them no room for price drops during its "supposed" 10 year life cycle. So it's going to be $99.99 by 2018? That's nearly $100 cheaper than anything the current Xbox has ever been.

Websites are doing the same thing for the Wii U. If they are going to make something up, at least make it believable.

I look forward to see how they implement augmented reality in the future.
SmartGlass looks interesting also. thinking.gif

$299 Price doesn't sound too good (from the perspective of a PC gamer). I'm afraid that we'll get really weak hardware frown.gif
