[TV] Xbox 720 document leak reveals $299 console with Kinect 2 for 2013, Kinect Glasses project - Page 5

$300 sounds about right for any console.

The two chips added around $50 at the most. They actually removed them both (EE and GS chip) for the 40gb and 2nd 80gb in 2007. Main cost was bluray and ps3 chip production and thirdly an elaborate expensive design/cooling had to be used.

The $300 PS3 slim was late 2009.

Not really. Wii U is worse. 720 is fine and I don't see what's wrong with it.

All I want is Pitcairn level graphics. Purely for selfish reasons to. I want my PC games to look good. If we get stuck with an ARM CPU and a 7750 level GPU games are going to continue to not look that great relative to PC hardware.

Not sure if that is true though man. Microsoft seemingly wants the Wii audience. For the 360 the strategy is ok because they do in fact own the hardcore audience specially in NA but they're going to have to prove to hardcore gamers again next generation their console is worth buying. You look at e3 reaction and you can tell the hardcore gamer is not happy with microsoft at the moment.

It's too bad to because Microsoft at one point you could tell was just super hungry and competitive. They moneyhatted just about everything for either exclusivity, timed exclusivity, exclusive dlc etc etc. Never happens anymore. They said at one point Microsoft watched Sony obsessivly. They better do it again because right now Sony is all hands on deck in regards to hardcore gamers.

Xbox Revolution would be a much better name (and marketing campaign) than "720". 720 just means they're spinning in circles :/

FYI, consoles tend to have small revisions like that throughout the life of them.
Really the only reason it failed so much was because whoever designed the motherboard layout didn't do it right and the cooling setup was really poor especially for the GPU which got very hot
Mod edit: Please use the edit button instead of double and triple posting.
You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. The original xbox 360 (xenon) failed because microsoft took a short cut with the GPU and tried to save a quick buck by buying cheaper chips that produce more heat. They went back to the good quality chips with the falcon revision. What is to say they wont try to take short cuts with the new xbox ?

Because their last mistake cost them more money than they initially made. Remember they had that free shipping for those bricked 360s and the extended warranty thing where they fixed the failed 360s for a while when they red ringed? I'm sure they honestly learned from that. Really turned a lot of people to the PS3 during that time.

On another note, I can honestly tell you that those peripherals are not going to be bundled into the next iteration of XBOX so you can suck on that dream all you want. The $299 will be their gimped version with nothing of note added for enhanced gaming experience. I hope they allow us to get our own hard drives in there like this one eventually allowed. The glasses will be somewhere north of $75. Kinect may or may not be included with the system. I can definitely see them increasing the price to $499 for backwards compatibility and Bluray (still don't know how to spell the blasted thing). I will take that wait and see approach like I did with the PS3. I'll wait to see what games they have added to their portfolio. I can definitely see Sony and M$ playing for win in the next generation.

One thing I'm wondering if the cost of games. Do you guys think they will justify having the games stay $60? I'm still a fan of the $50 price point myself.
