Because their last mistake cost them more money than they initially made. Remember they had that free shipping for those bricked 360s and the extended warranty thing where they fixed the failed 360s for a while when they red ringed? I'm sure they honestly learned from that. Really turned a lot of people to the PS3 during that time.
On another note, I can honestly tell you that those peripherals are not going to be bundled into the next iteration of XBOX so you can suck on that dream all you want. The $299 will be their gimped version with nothing of note added for enhanced gaming experience. I hope they allow us to get our own hard drives in there like this one eventually allowed. The glasses will be somewhere north of $75. Kinect may or may not be included with the system. I can definitely see them increasing the price to $499 for backwards compatibility and Bluray (still don't know how to spell the blasted thing). I will take that wait and see approach like I did with the PS3. I'll wait to see what games they have added to their portfolio. I can definitely see Sony and M$ playing for win in the next generation.
One thing I'm wondering if the cost of games. Do you guys think they will justify having the games stay $60? I'm still a fan of the $50 price point myself.
