Smoothest Mouse Pad?

I have a glass desk that my mouse feels amazing on, barely any friction and it makes almost no noise, unfortunately no 'good' mouse tracks on it at all. I tried a friend's I2 hoping it'd feel the same but it's much rougher. I also bought an Artisan Shiden Kai which is my favourite mouse pad I've tried, but it's still rougher than I'd like. Is there any mouse pad smooth enough for me?

Steelseries I-2 is a glass mousepad, probably thats what your looking for? Its making some noise though.
Most fast pads are textured or rough, thats good cuz the mouse glides faster on it.

If you want it smooth you have to go for cloth which is slower but smooth and silent.

The I2/Icemat is 'brushed' glass which makes it feel really different to my super smooth glass desk. I have an Artisan Shiden Kai which is apparently the smoothest cloth mouse pad, I do really like it, but from time to time I'll run my mouse over my desk and wish that's what my mouse pad felt like.

Did you try something like putting aluminum foil below the desk and see if the mouse can track then? With mice with high LOD it actually could work^^

The smoothest i've tried is the Razer Sphex. I bet there are smoother.
Seems the glassmade SteelSeries pad is the smoothest, I'd like to touch it tho.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that isn't going to work because the glass is pretty thick, and there's a layer of black in the middle.

I used to own a Razer Sphex, the Shiden Kai is smoother though. I had to throw my Sphex away as the left side that I used became waaaaay rougher than the right side after only a few months, and then it split in half when I gently took it off my desk to reposition it frown.gif.

Smoothest mouse pad around is the Razer Ironclad.

It's amazing to use, honestly you won't find anything smoother with zero surface friction. It's sandblasted aluminum that's then annodized. With a rubber base that doesn't slip, looks great and really is probably the smoothest thing you'll ever touch. Pictures on the website don't do it justice, it's a gun metal grey and is the perfect size with lots of room for people who like to use really low DPI setting on their mice.

Go to a computer shop and have some hands on with one, guaranteed you'll leave with it and laugh yourself stupid at the packaging it comes in and how heavy it is.

(Been using mine 6 months and it still looks and feels the same as when I bought it. Have not rotated it or anything. I don't think rubber pads on my Razer Mamba are going to effect the surface of a piece of annodized aluminum either, so it should last a long time. If it does wear out or become damaged you can guarantee I'll be back to buy another in a few years.)

Actually, I looked again and noticed the 'black layer' was closer to the bottom than the top. So I tried to see if the mouse worked on the underside of the desk and it did! If I was ten times crazier or richer I'd consider cutting a piece out of my desk or buy another similar one or something...

Have you tried an I2 or Shiden Kai to compare it to? I'll try to find someone with an Ironclad that I can test though.

They are those foam pads like the XFX Warpad mouse pad yeah? I've tried that and wasn't impressed at all as well as pretty much every hard Razer mouse pad and my dads glass mouse pad also which is really nice (has a tiny bit more friction and I don't like the surface coating) but just not as good as the Razer Ironclad.

I would actually advise against the razer ironclad and here's the reason why:
http://www.overclock.net/t/968093/razer-ironclad-fail
Apparently the pads had some previous issues with moisture/sweat. If you want to drop a lot of money on a hard pad that's very smooth I would suggest going for the steelseries sx. I've owned it for a year and a half, and I can tell you it is extremely nice.
