Can i run DDR3 1600mhz kit with DDR3 1333mhz simultaneously ?

Hello. i have 16gb of Gskill ddr3 1600mhz cl9. 1.5v

I need to increase my  RAM memory from  16gb to 20gb of total memory capacity

I have Z68 asrock extreme3 with 4 dram slots, and 4 * 4gb installed.

I'm planing to pull out one 4gb stick and install the 8gb on with equal  voltage and latency memory. to have  4 + 4 +4 +8

Would it work fine ?  does anyone face this kind of upgrade ?  thank you.

If they will run at the same voltage and latency, it should work. All sticks will run at the speed of the lowest speed stick you have though. Unless you can overclock the 1333 to 1600 and keep the same voltage/timings as the 1600 that is. If you can do that, they will all run the same and shouldn't be a problem.

So either all will be the same speed/timings as the 1300 kit or all will have to be set to the same speed/timings as the 1600 sticks and hopefully the 1300 can handle that with the same voltage.

Mixing kits of different speeds - esp. performance 1600Mhz with generic 1333Mhz kits - will be difficult to configure, if it works at all.  Mixing RAM of different speeds, timings, and/or voltage should be avoided.

Having a 4+4+4+8GB setup will also wreck your performance noting that you won't have a dual channel setup.  What requires you to have more than 16GB of RAM anyway?

in my logic. DDR3 is also flexible as DDR2
 if you install 2*2GB DDR2 800mhz + 4 GB DDR2 667 it will work fine.

i believe DDR3 1600mhz and 1333mhz work also the same.

i don't think my  not-dual Chanel give me  so  performance decreasing

dual Chanel performance is about 5% better then single Chanel.

and i need 16+ 20Gb for work with a lot of programs at the same time, so it  the priority to have 20gb of ram.

i just believe that someone faced this kind of question on practice, so i could strongly  trust.

anyway , thank you all, i will definitely need to buy more ram )
