Not trying to revive this thread or anything, but I wanted to add in my opinion, since I have owned both.

Either card is good for 1080p. I started out with a single 580, and upgraded to a 590 after buying crysis 2. I tried to do some minor overclocking, and the heat on the card jumped up quite a bit. At about 72 degrees room temp, under load my 590 was hitting about 85c in an NZXT phantom case. It was a lot trickier to overclock, and get it stable, but that could have been my inexperience with overclocking the card.

On the 670, the load temps are a lot lower, and using precision x it seems to overclock fairly easy. I have the 4gb models, and under load I see about 75c in tril sli setup. Only occasionally go above 80, and then my more aggressive fan profile kicks in to prevent throttling.

For sheer looks, the 590 looks completely awesome, and the packaging was better. Card felt heavier, and gave a better illusion of quality. IMO, the 670 feels a bit cheap, even if it performs well.

If you are planning to go with another card, I would get the 670's. If you are planning to stay with one, I would get the 590. Both are nice pieces of hardware, it just depends on what you are planning for future mods.

http://3dmark.com/3dm11/3627394

My 590 scored ALOT higher then that... Around 9800 with out any OC

Anywho...

From a performance stand point only no power draw etc...

Gpu power wise the 590 is gonna win...

But the 590 only has true 1.5mb Vram... Where you can get a 670 with 4gb...

Depeding on what your playing and if your using the texture mods the more Vram the better.

I've had a 670 and a 590 in my rig and the 590 does feel a lot better. It's noticeably faster, though it obviously puts out more heat.

It's been said many times here, but clearly the GTX 590 will be faster in most cases, and the GTX 670 will be more power efficient, and still quite fast.

One thing that should be taken in to consideration, is that SLI can be kind of a pain, and generally having a single GPU setup is much more consistent and convenient. For example, games like Arkham City and GTA IV will run significantly better on a GTX 670, because they don't even have SLI support. Other games will also suffer from stutter and poor scaling, and even the best supported SLI games can start to have issues if the framerate goes below 30-40ish FPS.

With that in mind, I highly recommend the GTX 670. For 1080p, it's really all you need right now, and the convenience mixed with efficiency make it the better choice in my mind.
