funny thing is the other screw was about the same length...you might be right it might have made some contact but i doubt it because the screw didn't even go deep enough before it snapped. I don't know what to say is the cause.

But to everyone else, Don't screw in those holes and if you do, use the exact type of screws!

It would have definitely been the screws. If you were noticing higher heat output on one side then that's a warning sign that you had done some serious damage.

On a hunch I bought a few bags of M3x0.50x6mm machine screws, they seem to fit fine. I only found one hole readily accessible and putting a screw in it didn't seem difficult - Nor has it caused any issues (yet).

I'm not so sure tearing it apart further to get to the rest of the holes is worth the risk.

How does the stand compare to the other models (Catleap etc)? Does anyone have units for comparison? Sounds like the stand is just as good/bad as the others for the most part? Leaning Shimian for slightly better stand/mounting if necessary but pixel perfect for that price is a steal. I fret a bit over dismantling the monitor. frown.gif

That's the great thing about the Potalion. Yes, the stand sucks but you don't have to disassemble anything to mount it to a better one. It has a standard VESA bolt pattern exposed on the back of the unit right out of the box.

I removed foot by opening inside. Photos on page 9 of this thread.

Yeah that's the one I was thinking of. It doesn't look too bad, just a bit nerve wracking.

Hmmm, wondered why the PPP (Pixel Perfect Potalion) was so cheap at BCC.
That is, until I tryed to order one, an a S&H fee of U$ 40:- was added.

Ok, they are cheap, but not that cheap...
