Upgrading from Q6600! What to do? 3770K vs 3930K - Page 2

Keep the 3930k...then upgrade the video card later on. Your 570 is still a great card. Upgrade GPUs when you can, ideally after the next series comes out.

I jumped from 2500k to the 3930k and I couldn't be happier.

Yea if you really are stretched for cash your best bet is defiantly to sell it. If you can afford to take the hit and then buy the mobo and ram then do that though. $220 is extremely cheap for that chip and I would say go ahead and get on the head start for a rig that is extremely powerful. You will be paying a cheaper price than most people are for their 3770k. As stated it will be future proof, more so than IB at least.

Plus if you ever want to put your hardware to the thest while competing within OCN, foldiing is a great way to do it. That said the 3930ks are waxing the competition right now so it's a good time to get a head start thumb.gif

This is what I am rocking. Loving it so far, you can see clock speeds and temps in rig sig. I pretty much run it like that 24/7 folding. When I am gaming I throttle my cpu back to 60% in the VM I'm folding with and I am still able to kill games like it's nothing.

They also have This one for $20 cheaper.

I believe the only diffrence is the absence of the sound card. But let me tell you that sound card is beast! I think I heard it was basically a sound card selling for around $100 on its own. I forgot the manufactor off the the top of my head.

I would say keep the 3930k for sure. The gpu would be easy enough to upgrade a year or so down the road whereas the cpu would not. The 570 will be fine for a while, and you could always add another for sli easily enough. Basically the system as a whole should last longer if you keep the 3930k.

This is a similar board as far as features, but with more ram slots, that said it has 1 less PCIE but unless you are gonna quadfire that isnt important. I am gonna quad on that board but I am gonna get a 7970x2 or a 7990 if they ever release. biggrin.gif I love my Extreme6.

Is the Asrock Extreme6 worth it over the Extreme4? I realistically wont get more than 16GB of ram, or SLI more than 2 cards. Does the Extreme 6 OC better or have any other special features? And what about the Gigabyte one, its the same price as the Extreme4
