what i need to use a Logitech Harmony? or do i need to shop else ware for that last piece
i wouldn't buy that overpriced thing, i would do what "jbjmed" said and get that cheapo remote, take the receiver, and just toss the remote.

If you're just using it for HTPC this is great:

http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboards/3848

You can switch it between directional or mouse movement. Helps immensely when it's time to change settings or to do a little browsing, you won't need to keep a mouse/KB around. I have one and love it.

If you're going to do alot of browsing you'll want a wireless mouse/KB and in that case an IR type remote may be a better primary control.

Sure you could use it. But really there are cheaper options out there. This is one from Amazon.ca. You wont need the remote so you just use the IR receiver. Its a cheaper option than that one from newegg.

Excellent suggestion, I normally prefer to do my shopping with newegg (they handle electronics much better then amazon) but that will save me some money smile.gif

I see that you already bought but just for the info i'll mention that there are many Google/android TV media center boxes/sticks out there now that can handle 1080p mkvs and they are fairly low cost start down at about $80 I think and can be up to $300. With a lot of products at the lower end. I have a Sony Google TV and the media player packaged with it is pretty good. Market has more players that support more codecs but I have found that the built player does the job 95% of the time. Some of the stick/boxes I have seen have wifi only some have wifi and wired. I just run a DLNA server (WMP has one built in) on my Mediaserver and all the devices around the house can play them back.

XBMC is great though, used it all through college but not much since

Yup I have a couple. Gmote works good and I also use win-remote on my phone and galaxy tab. They sure do come in pretty handy. If you do get XBMC installed there are a few remotes that work really well at controlling it on a mobile device too.
