New Gaming Rig - Page 2

Thread Starter
Do you guys think that the extra cost of the 4GB GTX 670 over the 2GB version is worth it? Should I rather get the 2GB and upgrade to SLI later?

Personally, I would try to get a larger monitor into the mix.

I don't think you need 4Gb. I am using a 1900x1200 Asus VW266H with a GTX 670 2 gb. Plays everything I have on ultra with butter smooth frame rates. Witcher 2 (not uber setting), B3, Skyrim, etc.

A 2GB card will be more than enough for that monitor. I would only recommend the 4GB card if you were absolutely sure that you will upgrade to a multiple monitor set-up in the near future, but even then do you really want to spend that much money when you could put it towards something else later on (bearing in mind the rate at which computer technology develops)?

To add; There seems to be a limit as to how well IB processors can be overclocked, largely independent of the cooler you are using (so the H100 should be more than enough). IB can still outperform SB though in spite of the lower clock speeds (within reason of course).

1000W is a little excessive, as is 16GB of RAM unless you need it for work (in which case why did you choose the 3570k)? As for the 3930k being more future proof, I suspect the cost of a 2011 build would more than exceed the likely cost of purchasing a new motherboard and Haswell processor down the line.
