What CPU block to use

Thread Starter
Hey guys I'm buying my comp parts soon and I am getting a dual loop system because im going water cooling hardcore on this build. I am curious about what CPU (2011 socket) to use since my EVGA Nvidia 680 is watercooled and its electroless nickle plated and I want all of them to be the same metal because i am a worry wart. I'm even cooling my 8 RAM slots lol. So much tubing to be done in this build but gonna look so awesome.

Thanks guys

I'm using compression fittings btw if that helps at all and 1/2" ID 3/4" OD.

a dual loop? why?
well you gunna be dissapointed because your radiators are
copper/brass. the nickle and brass are different. i know you mean
well, but tell us what you have and what you are expecting and we
can help you out as much as possible, without make-up scenarios.

are you watercooling for show or for go?
what case is this in? what kinda budget are you spending?
you'll want to use the least amount of tubing to keep the loop
tight and tidy. you dont want it to look like a spagetti factory
blew up, you can't see your parts through all the hose. just
keep it simple (since it is your first) with a CPU/GPU loop
and then add in all the other phoo-phoo for window dressing.
a great starter kit is the XSPC RX360 with eithe a RASA block
(good starter block) or the Raystorm (more expensive than RASA)
start with barbs, as the compression fittings can get pricey as well.
then once it is how you want it, change over to comps and diff hose,
and what all else you need for eyecandy.

If your set on dual loops look at a shared reservoir then you don't need to worry about dividing up the rads evenly into each loop. Two small or one large loop makes little difference - I've ran mine both ways. Personally I've just ordered a high flow CPU block (Raystorm) and I'm changing my two loops back to one. Ram voltages are just getting lower, even when I was running DDR3 at 1.9v it didn't need water cooling - the added hassle is no benefit (just sayin' biggrin.gif).

Thanks for the respsonses guys sorry for the long wait for me to reply had work all day.

Anyways I want this for show and for go I have been debating over the RAM cooling and I think I'm gonna toss that idea but I am using 2133 Dominator RAM and thought it would be cool to do that (i want to show it off that I built this by myself) The case I'm shoving this all into is the Cooler Master Cosmos II case (Ultra Full Tower case). I do however want to cool the mobo fully because like Airdeano said with that XSPC kit I can't fit that rad in the top of my case I am push pulling both rads (360 and 240 (240 = thicker one)) with Noctua NF-F12 fans. and for my dual loop system I was gonna use this res.

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/11651/ex-res-243/EK_Dual_Loop_Dual_Bay_SPIN_Reservoir_w_Flow_Meters_-_Black_Acetal_EK-BAY_Spin_RES_DUAL_Loop_-_Black_Acetal.html?tl=g30c97s168

I am wondering what res to use now I think I'm gonna go back to one of my original choices of the: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/14199/ex-res-308/FrozenQ_Liquid_Fusion_Dual_Bay_Reservoir_w_Swiftech_MCP655_Series_Pump_Installed.html?tl=g30c97

Then with the hose I will be using this: http://www.dangerden.com/store/1-2-uv-green-dreamflex-tubing.html#tabs

I am going green on the inside with UV if you can't tell. I am getting an SSD for boot speed and a 1TB HDD. That kinda stinks I can't avoid the copper look for the blocks since my 680 is nickle plated on the inside (called EVGA to make sure). I wanted the nickle to match everything else for looks..I might still WC RAM but I don't know 7 blocks is a lot for one MCP655 pump to go through. I am a hardcore gamer and I want to show what I have done off and I want performance. This may be my first build but I have been making my list since last August and I have been waiting. Also for the Compression fittings I like the look of them and also I don't really like how the barbs work IMO. Compressions look safer to me. I have looked at the Raystorm CPU block many times and I think I'm goign to go with it but I have been wondering if their was a nickle plated one out there at all. Thanls for your responses and info guys it means a lot. (I am using the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme mobo to let you know).

The DangerDen M6 is a nice nickel block and seems to perform pretty much as the Raystorm, I'd also look at the Koolance RP-452x2 - it's dual pump (serial or parallel) so you get the choice to switch between one or two loops.
