i just got it 2 days ago ive been VERY careful to make sure the temps were not to high and using msi afterburner so i could see temps in games and ect its never gotten to hot and there was artifacting in games so i uninstalled the driver and removed the extra 7770 i had i was using to help with gpgpu tasks and reinstalled the drives and now it looks completely fine just wondering if i should be worried

Test your ASUS HD 7970 at stock speeds with BF3 and Crysis 2 for more than 1 hour. If its stable then you don't need to worry. Also check card temps under load . It should not cross 85C when gaming for long durations if you have a good cabinet.

i wouldnt let it even hit 80 ever i dont like when my gpu nears 75 and it hasnt ever been over 65c in games and the weird part was that it ddint artifact in 3d benchmarks just l4d2 and skyrim

what drivers are you running. are you running the card at stock speeds ?

12.6 and yes stock speeds but ive just been running skyrim at max for 2 hours with nothing at all so i think its good possibly a driver issue it could have been the 7770 aswell since when i was using just it the screen went blue/white striped a few times under load

If you are having any artifacts at stock clocks in any of the games with AMD 12.6 return the card. get it changed with an RMA. Try the latest 12.6 beta drivers

ive been playing games with it on max for 4 hours without a single problem so i think the card is fine

The 12.6 BETA drivers give artifacts. Don't use them while testing a cards stability.

thank you! lol i am VERY happy to know that ive been stressing the card with furmark games and everything else to see if it was failing last gpu i had that gave artifacts failed within a day so i was kinda worried about it since i just spent so much on it and got it 2 days ago and didnt want to wait for RMA or deal with the RMA process

the card seems to be doing great but i was still a bit worried

furmark 1.10.1 -
1920x1080 burn-in 2x msaa
fps min:37 max:43 avg:40
temp min:41c max:64c after 15min (stayed around 62c most the time)
no artifacts or glitching at all

it just started it again im 100% convinced its something to do with the driver now because a driver reinstall fixes the problem instantly if the gpu was failing a driver "refresh" should do nothing at all for the problem
hope they release some good drivers soon
