Hi there,
I'm looking to purchase a laptop for University soon and have about $2000 to spend. An obvious contender is the MacBook Pro Retina as with the student discount it comes in at $2000. I'm open to all other suggestions at this price point but am looking for a few things:
The laptop will be mainly used for college oriented work. I will also be doing film editing and photo editing...a external thunderbolt drive will be used as a scratch disk.
These are just a few things off the top of my head but a good rule of thumb would be if you wouldn't buy it yourself don't suggest it.
If you need anymore information please let me know.

- It must be 15" or similar (no 17")
- A nice graphics card would be appreciated but not necessary as I will only be playing Counter Strike: Source and WoW
- Expecting an SSD for the main drive. If a laptop has dual hard drive caddies or you can sacrifice the DVD drive for one I'd be happy with that
- The weight must be manageable since I will be carrying this around to class all day. By "manageable" I mean around 5 pounds as the MBP weighs in at 4.5.
- The display must be top notch, full HD res, not expecting the 2880x1800...
- Build quality is a necessity.
