Can you download them all at once in STEAM

Thread Starter
So after a format C and reinstalling Steam, I have to download my games again (or update them a bit since they are on my D disk)

But is there a way to select them ALL (and not 1 by 1) so you can tell to do it all at once (downloading or updating)

Found a couple threads on this. Haven't read through them myself but have a look:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1251492
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2024016

I personally can't see it being an option because if loads of people did that it would probably put a beasty load on the steam servers. If you have another hdd then in future you can use steam to backup your games. I've started doing that with my favourite games now. Saves a lot of downloading hours smile.gif

I think this is a recent update because you used to be able to. Try pausing them both and resuming. that's what I have to do when my download stops when i play a singleplayer game.

Hmmm it seems it can't be done...

Well the downloading would not be a problem as I can gownload at 12MB/s and it will go even faster from 24th biggrin.gif (still 1 week waiting biggrin.gif)

And I also have steam on my D. So when I do format C, it doesn't harm.

Just install OS back on C and then go to steam folder on D

Delete ALL files in the Steam folder EXCEPT "SteamApps" and "Steam.exe"

Now run the Steam.exe and it will download some files again.

After that you can log-in again with your account and all works again (after some synchronizing, sometimes re-downloading some files but not the whole game)
And if the re-downloading doesn't do anything, just doubleclick on the game and it will tell something about changing the file system to a better version. Just click OK (you can only do that game per game as well...)

This also applies when you want do copy/paste your steam folder to a new (bigger/faster) HDD

Just be sure to close steam first!!! (log off is not good, really QUIT it via right mouse on the icon next to the clock)

Then go to the map and delete all but apps and exe

Etc...

Yeh you can do that for sure. It's just the thing of selecting a whole load of games at once and then going ahead with the downloads. As far as I know you can only go through one by one clicking download on each of them. Maybe there is some kind of steam mod/script that can be used to do this...

Ahhhh I see. I don't think there's a way to do that, but it would make sense to have one button that synchronised your local files to your steam account. That is to say, you have everything installed that you've bought.

Wont steam go through them all systematically anyway once it is done with one? Mine normally does two or three at a time when I do the same thing. I don't delete anything though, just point the steam install at the same folder and let it go.

I'm sure doing all of them at once would be pretty crappy! Lots of data management there.
