Z77 Chipset block - The best ? (ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe)

Hi

Planning to cool the Z77 with a waterblock on a ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe ...

But what are the newest / best chipset blocks around ? - Looking at the Heatkiller:

http://www.watercoolinguk.co.uk/p/Watercool-HEATKILLER®-NSB-Rev30-Nickel_5873.html

Low flow resistance is very important, the Z77 itself dont get very hot ... Any better ?

- Why cool the Z77 ? - Because I can biggrin.gif

If you find any that will look good together with the Apooge Drive II, then please show biggrin.gif

Is that the mini itx board? are you sure you can replace the heatsink? Unless you have zero airflow in your case I don't see why you would want to waste your money on a chipset water block. Apart from the one you listed I don't even think there are any z77 waterblocks because the chipset itself produces so little heat. Its not a 790FX chipset or anything....

Pretty sure that you can replace it redface.gif

I will make a acrylic cover that will enclose the entire motherboard, and only have holes to waterblocks - So the airflow will be prette close to zero .... Could make some holes over the Z77 or something easy, but a waterblock would just fit the build better redface.gif

ah I see, sounds like a cool project biggrin.gif. Im actually going ITX with the same motherboard and a bitfenix prodigy since my motherboard died.
I've looked at pics and I think you'll have just enough clearance

there may be an issue with the pci express slot though...

I modded an MCW30 to fit a H55m-D2H a while back, I don't have pictures but I found a diagram. Basically you can cut the mounting arms a little to allow them to clear other components. If restriction is very important to you I think the MCW30 is essentially a flat copper plate on the inside. tongue.gif

The Heatkiller looks like a better option though, it'd look nicer on the board and it would probably be easier to mount.
The only problem I can see is if it's got 79mm from one end of the mount to the other it will probably need a little cutting down but most other blocks would too as the clearance looks pretty tight by the PCI-E slot.

The fact that it rotates around its mount would be very handy as well.

Yeah I had a old water block from M.I.P.S for my rampage Gene II x58 board that I never used so I tried to see if it would fit my ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe and it did not align up with the hold down holes correctly.
So I also have been looking for one that will fit this board myself.. I am sure something from a past chipset from another board would fit this Mini ITX board, it looks pretty standard.

I'm subbing to this thread. I plan on doing the same to board as well. I also want to look into cooling the VRM with a watercolor. That would be tricky!
