HTPC audiophile build using Desktop PC leftover

Hi guys!

So I was thinking of converting my watercooled desktop rig to HTPC and replace my dekstop rig with latest components. Here's what I have currently:

CPU: Q6600 2.4ghz
Mobo: Gigabyte X48-DQ6
RAM: Corsair 4gb DDR2
GFX: XFX Radeon 4870 1GB
HDD: Western Digital 2 x 500GB and 1 x 1TB(Green) all 7200RPM
PSU: 1000watts (forgot the company name)
Soundcard: Creative Fatality X-Fi

Now, ive lost the stock cooler so i'll need an aftermarket cooler that'll let me overclock my HTPC if needed. Noise should be bearable. I need a black case which can blend in with my Hi Fi gear and I was looking at the Antec Fusion Max Remote case that'll let me fit an ATX board in it. What else would you guys suggest? My primary use would be to play HD/3D movies on my 3dtv and output lossless audio to my DAC>AMP>Sennheisers 650/Beyer T1 or my JBL Ti series speaker system. Ive been out of PC building since I last built that desktop rig(yes its been that long. Those parts were latest at the time). Just finished building my Bottlehead Crack amplifier so I thought as long as im building things, lets get this HTPC build done as well. I'll need your help here guys! I dont want to end up choosing the wrong things and then hooking em up and get disappointed. Thanks!

Actually why is that Q6600 @ stock and u considering OCing a HTPC? It should be the other way round and a 3ghz+ Q6600 is still a decent chip for gaming, etc and in your shoes i would just upgrade the GPU? For 3D Blu Ray the pros @ AVS HTPC forums have concluded that the A6-3500 is the cheapest platform for dependability wink.gif

may i suggest selling everything and building a a-6-3500 setup. i just built one and for the price its the best out there. there's a built in ati hd6530
video so you have a video and a triple core cpu all into one. best thing is its only 65 watts. so the money you make on the cpu , mobo ,memory, sound card, video card and psu you can build a new amd a6-3500 setup.

Interesting! Tell me more!! A6-3500? Ive been out of the game long! How about I dont sell my system, upgrade the GPU, buy an aftermarket cooler to overclock the Q6600 and invest in a separate a6-3500? And how much would that cost?

Why do you have a sound card? You have a DAC already, just pass the digital signal out of your mobo directly to the DAC.

I don't know about that. HDDs can easily get filled up.
