[VG247]BlackFoot Kickstarter aims to “restore PC gaming to its former glory” - Page 8

Character models and everything looks like it's from 2003.... I'm being reminded of W:ET with high(er)-res textures.

But do kickstarters actually go under and never produce an end product after being successfully funded? Maybe but if you invest in a hand held spaceship and it doesn't work but thats your own fault. This is a video game that already has content to view, much less likely to fail than someone sitting in their mums basement.

On almost every gaming website/forum I see people complaining about how the publishers screwed the developers by rushing the game, changing its' direction, etc. Here's a legit way to bypass all that drama and people are on the fence? The use of the "save pc gaming" theme was ill-advised, but I think what these developers are trying to do is good for the industry. If a few kickstarter games go really big wouldn't developers everywhere have more power in negotiations?
On Tom Clancy/ Ghost Recon forums you hear people constantly talking about how the new Ghost Recons aren't true to the series or tactical. Now you can put your money where your mouth is, and if the fans are there the game will get made.
Also I'm pretty sure if the goal is not met by the stated deadline, everyone who donated is refunded their money.

Perhaps the reason for not so enthusiastic reception is like I stated in an earlier post that there are already a lot of good FPS games on PC (no I'm not talking about BF3, MW or COD) and games like CS: Global Offencive are just around the corner. Not really that many tactical shooters but still. That been said I love the idea of Kickstarter and have personally already invested in 3 game projects. The double fine project, The Larry project and The Space quest project. All of thees have been successfully funded and are now in production. I think the reason is that they are all adventure games and that market has been starving for games for a long time unlike the FPS genre.

I'll bet half of you guys didn't even read a thing about the project. This was never meant to compete with the big corporate studios.

Seriously, if there aren't enough polygons with pretty textures to satisfy your obsessive taste in graphics then (mind you it's only on pre-alpha phase) you can look to your bunny-hopping, run 'n gun, Michael Bayish Battlefield/CoD games.

Funny how mostly everyone praises the endless, cash-cow machine Diablo 3 or the pixelated Minecraft. However a long overdue "tactical shooter' which happens to be low-budget is a completely different story...rolleyes.gif

I would support them and I want to support smaller game devs and I love PC Gaming and I loved the old R6 and GR games and... but... but... Its just another first person shooter.

Ah such a shame.

Been looking for a game like this and I didn't get to Take Down in time for the Kickstarter so I pledged this one. Anyway, they posted a new video up on sound design. Pretty crazy, what they're doing with randomized sounds.

3. We are different then all modern games.
4. We ask that you please donate what you can.
PLEASE.
If you actually make the game and it is actually good I will happily buy your game when their is an actual product to receive. Until then you're sol as far as I'm concerned.
When did it become acceptable for people to ask the general public to fund their project, only to then ask them to buy the product once it's completed?
What really gets me is people act like this Kickstarter stuff is so amazing and they tell you if you have any problems with it (like I do) that you are either a to poor to play games or b not a true PC gamer.

Donating 15~ bucks usually gets you a digital copy of the full game when it comes out. Why are you so against crowd funding? I'd rather it be that way then EA and Activision-like companies ruling all of gaming where all the games SUCK and are watered down to a huge extent just to rake in tons of cash.

Go have a terrible opinion elsewhere, you sound like a sally.

This is not a game, this is more like a simulator...which most PC gamers are not even interested in. It's also missing the "fun" aspect.

If you want to "restore PC gaming to its glory", simply make games for the PC rather than porting them from consoles. BF2 was a PC game, didn't look anything like this but it was still a lot of fun.
