Sooooo much input T~T Thank you all! :3

So after over-looking all of this, i'm looking at something like -

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($245.00 @ PCCaseGear)

CPU Cooler: XSPC Rasa 750 RS240 Universal CPU Water Cooling Kit ($139.00 @ PCCaseGear)

Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($155.00 @ PCCaseGear)

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB - I can get a cheap deal on these from my boss ^-^) DDR3- 1600 Memory ($90 @ My Boss XD)

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($95.00 @ PCCaseGear)

SSD: Crucial M4 64GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($99.00 @ Scorptec)

Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 2GB Video Card ($509.00 @ PCCaseGear) X2 in SLI

Case: NZXT Switch 810 ( biggrin.gif ) ( $215 @ Scorptec)

Power Supply: NZXT 750W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($135.00 @ Scorptec)

Monitor: Samsung S23A950D 120Hz 23.0" Monitor ($289.00 @ Scorptec)

Optical Drive: LG GH24NS90 DVD/CD Writer ($22.00 @ PCCaseGear)

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 3-Pack (64-bit) ($99.00 @ Scorptec)

Wireless Adaptor: ASUS WL-167G-V3 802.11n Wireless USB 2.0 Adaptor ($19.00 @ PCCaseGear)

Total: $2,111.00 or $2,620.00 w/ sli Which i'm willing to stretch to for a kick-ass pc X3

Anyone see any problems? X3
Power Supply will handle the SLI cards and everything else? PSU Calcs put fans and USB devices into the mix, so i'll have maybe 4 USB Devices and... However many fans i'll be using i the case? ^_^

What do people use their SSDs for? Simply the OS? Any recommendations on what to run off the SSD? smile.gif

Any difference between a 3.5" SSD an a 2.5" SSD? other than the size :3

Gah, this is awesome feedback XD

Anyone have some i5-3570K overclocking history? smile.gif
post #12 of 29
Maybe I'm missing or overlooking something, but that PSU is about 40$ cheaper on Amazon.
In any case, I'd find it a better idea to look at a 80+ Gold certificated PSU, such as the Corsair AX850W, based on the suggestion dr4gonhunt3rZ made.
Alternatively, the AX750W will do just fine as well. smile.gif

The 2.5" SSD is what you'll see most of the time, nowadays. But no, I don't think there's any difference apart from their size.
SSDs are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay faster than HDDs. If you don't own one already, prepare your mind to be blown apart because its speed will amaze you. smile.gif

If you were to get one, I'd recommend you the Crucial M4 128GB, really fast and has a great bang for the buck.

Yeah, I'd go with a 850W one. Difference between the AX850W and the AX750W is only like 20-30$. smile.gif
Also, make sure the SSD is 128GB, not 64. Windows 7 takes up 20GB alone, and then you haven't installed any programs yet. wink.gif
There's a deal around somewhere, a Crucial M4 128GB for about 79$.

But a 128GB Would have say, 20GB worth of OS and then every game i obtain from now until forever will fit snugly on-top of that, with media and files stored on the HDD? biggrin.gif

Because in all honesty i don't plan on buying this whole rig as listed and piecing it together in one large transaction.
I'll most likely start with the -

- CPU
- Motherboard
- Ram
- PSU
- Wireless Adaptor
- SSD
- OS
- Case
- Maybe a single GTX 670, but looking into Intel's HD 4000 graphics.. it's quite impressive on it's own for low-end gaming right at this moment. But a GTX 670 will follow very quickly i'm sure.
- Monitor

Having the larger SSD to start with would be nice :3

That's a more realistic look at the build to start with, save a bunch of cash by waiting a little for the cards and the cooling/extra storage etc to come though ~ That i could throw into a nice keyboard and mouse (feel free to throw some suggestions my way thumb.gif )

You'll be running the OS and whatever programs you want to run quickly, such as the game you are currently playing and productivity tools. The size imo will depend on how you use the PC. I got a 180gb because my current OS HDD is constantly above 300gb. I can trim that, but I want it to be on the safe side and got a 180gb (Would have gotten a 256 or 512gb, but I can't afford it).

It'll be OS and whatever game/s i get into at the time, also web-browser? i mean is that even worth it..? then everything else will be thrown onto a HDD, although i have an external 1TB atm i can just chuck stuff around on.
