Simple concept, no?

But that means I can't say everyone who hates my beloved Origin is an idiot!

Practically every bad part of the gaming industry has had EA doing it at some point, it's a perfect example of Jack of All Trades, Master of None. (ie. They do those bad practices but aren't the worst offenders for it)

You could call the many internet crusaders against CoD a "supposed" minority, but the truth of the matter is that they've been consecutively breaking sales records. Internet would have you believe that CoD is the worst franchise in history, but people voting with their wallets on a grand scale says otherwise.

Yep, that's true. Most people don't care if EA, Activision, etc make a game; they only care if its good.

I think the bottom line is WTH is going on at EA? The "head honcho" says that they won't do X and then they turn around and do X less than two week later. Not six months or a year later. Either the left hand at EA doesn't know what the right hand is doing, which is bad news, or its part of a concerted effort to lie to the consumer, which is bad news.

I'm not complaining that they're discounting the games, I'm just wondering what they're doing over there?

Before Activision there was much EA hatred. Some people making those comments are incredibly short sighted... Or haven't been around as long as the rest of us. EA have been long known as the company that treats its staff like crap, buys up IP and development studios and then shelves/ruins them.

Activision are known for putting a guy who used to work in pharmaceuticals in charge of a gaming business, wanting to make a $50 game into a $500 game. EA have a much richer history. Type "Boycott EA" into the search box on OCN. Goes back further than Activision.

And no, you guys can put words into this guys mouth if you want and claim he was obviously talking about "those pack sales" but that's wishful thinking. He was specifically on about 75% off sales and didn't specify package deals. Therefore it IS hypocritical and it IS funny that they are now having a sale two weeks later.

I'm personally happy to ride on whatever company makes whatever mistake, because unless they're paying my wages I owe nothing to them and as long as I'm buying/playing their titles they owe a lot to me.

I will not participate in this gross IP cheapening.

You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

This article moocowman posted is a good read and a nice insight into the rest of the industry, especially DLC. But it doesn't excuse stuff like the unlock packs for BF3 or BF3 Premium wink.gif
