Overclocking 3570K beyond 4.5GHz@1.195v?

First my system specs:
Code:
i5 3570K OC from 3.4GHz to 4.5GHz@1.195v in bios (1.2 in cpuz)
Mushkin Enhanced Redline 16GB OC from 2133MHz 9-11-10-28 to 2400MHz 10-12-11-32
Corsair H100 (fans on high)
ASUS Sabertooth Z77 (latest bios: v1206 - 06/05/12)
EVGA GeForce GTX 690
Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240GB (latest firmware: 502ABBF0)
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB
Antec High Current Pro 1200W (beyond overkill, but it was on sale)
Antec P280

3570K at 4.5GHz@1.195v in bios (1.2 in cpuz)
Prime95: 76 degrees max
IntelBurnTest: 87 degrees max

I can't get anything stable passed 4.5GHz. I can't get 4.5GHz stable using an Offset. My most stable Offset at 45 was +0.09 (reaching a little more than 1.2 in cpuz), however even that caused instability after a while.

I have left all other BIOS settings on optimized defaults as I'm not positive how they affect the overclock (so most settings are Auto). Can someone make some suggestions for me?

Thank you!

Ok so I did some more testing. I managed to get 4.6GHz stable at 1.25v in bios, however IntelBurnTest hit 97 degrees. I also got 4.7GHz stable at 1.3v in bios, but IntelBurnTest hit a whopping 104 degrees.

Why are my temperatures so high? I have an H100 and a case with very good air circulation, and my room temperature is only 20 degrees. Is the thermal paste that comes already on the H100 not good? Or did I get a crappy H100? Or just a CPU that gets very hot very easily?

Well I guess I'll have to stick with 4.5GHz@1.195v. It would be helpful if someone could suggest other settings to experiment with. I'm going to try again at getting a stable Offset instead of a constant 1.195v (1.2 in cpuz).

Ivy bridge gets hotter than sb because intel changed from epoxy to thermal paste in between the die and the heat spreader. I wouldnt go any further than 4.5 if your hitting temps that high

I would re-seat your cpu heatsink (the corsair block)...I have an H80, and I reached a semi-stable 4.7 GHz where IBT shows max temp of 92 degC...on three of the cores, one of my cores doesnt go above 80 degC with Vcore 1.315 and PLL at 1.73

I'd just stick with 4.5ghz and be happy...those temps are as high as I would feel comfortable with imho. Anything above...those temps scarrreee me. lol

FYI - I hit 86C in IBT at 4.4ghz...so your better off than me.

Yeah I overclocked my 3570k to 4.5ghz. Prime95 tests shoes that my temps never seem to go over 84. However I only run my tests for 15mins, because I am primarily gaming so I pretty sure my temps will almost never get to the max that they reach on a stress test. Also I too have no luck clocking past 4.5ghz I have tried many offset V combos. However I am still learning the BIOS on my motherboard/overclocking in general so maybe there are more BIOS settings I am not aware of that will stabilize a 4.5

^ 15 minutes?? dude..that's not really enough to be called stable...do at least 1 hour....i personally recommend 12 hours.

Yeah you very correct about that. I loosely used that statement. The 15min stress tests are more just to see what I would potentially get temp wise (not very accurate I know). I also mispoke on my 4.5ghz overclock temps. 76-81c. I'll run a test over night and what kinda numbers I pull. Thanks for the advice/clarification.

IBT doesn't reflect real-world temps. Prime doesn't even reflect real-world temps. I too have a 3570k that does 4.7 with 1.31V, it pushes 92C+ during the hottest part of a prime run and almost never gets above 80 IRL. That, and I'm using offset mode, so I'm not constantly pushing 1.3V through it.... So I find this to be cool enough and stable. But it's a judgment call...

Yeah that is the impression I get as well. Also what are your BIOS setting like? I cant seem to get my rig to boot passed the windows load screen whenever I clock it passed 4.5ghz??? any thoughts? I have tried raising the voltage(off set)/lowering(i know lowering wouldn't solve anything) and auto settings. I tend to have the best luck with my BIOS auto settings in general with all my over clocks so far.
