I am looking for the best memory kit to buy around $120. It is for my signature rig. It has to be 8GB chips that would run well in a quad channel configuration.

On a side note: Is there a difference between quad and dual channel memory. I understand its different on the motherboards side, but i mean on the memory kits side of things.

Quad channel memory is still dual,from what I understand the modules are tested to insure that they work together(quad kits). Like you stated it's just the motherboard controller that make the difference.As to recommendation I'd look into this ram.

i would have to say some gskill ripjaw x. it is $125 and it is rated at 1600mhz and cas latency of 9 and voltage of 1.5
