Overclocking my i5 750.

Long story short, I'm semi familiar with OCing... but however that being said not with the lynnfield... coming from the wolfdale and a monster e8400 clocked to 4.2 ghz stable.. Not the same process at all lol

Have a slight issue

Intel's stated safe voltage for this chip is 1.4v... I currently have 1.434 at a 3.463mhz BCLK is sitting at 173... when i get it to 180 it goes to 1.464v... I don't know if this is a huge matter or if I should keep it where it is or.. perhaps drop it even lower? Current setup in bios is

qpi/VTT/IMC = 1.14v
PCH= 1.10
PLL = 1.8v
RAM = 1440

BCLK currently at 20*173 however I would like 20*180... but liek I said the vcore rises to 1.464v when this happens. Any suggestions and or anymore input how I can just slightly tweak this a little more for a decent stable OC?

P.S Temp is stable at 39C or 40C idle.. running with a Hyper 212+

Manually set the vcore.. no more then 1.4v unless you got insane cooling

Sounds like offset voltage. The numbers represents the increase from stock voltage.

Sweet I think I got it. I set the VCORE over or offset.. whatever its called.. to .01 the lowest setting I could on it and started er up. BCLK at 180 x 20 and 3.6ghz at 1.232v I 409think that Might do it.

Very nice overclock. For reference I needed about 1.33v to get my 4Ghz overclock stable at 200x20. I noticed the board really liked having the VTT set to 1.2 and ram to 1.5 for whatever reason.

aw d00d..you gotta raise that vtt...to around 1.26-1.3
Lynnfields will do higher RAM frequencies,too..up to 1000-ish
1.4 is the max recommended..this can be exceeded by a bit for higher clocking..but not too much..
i'd say keep it under 1.47-ish..
you can probably jack the fsb up to 200 pretty easy..over that..it's the board/chip combination luck..
i had one that would do 209..another would do 213..

Well i had to raise the core voltage to 1.4v. It was blue screening on BF3 after about 20 mins.. I think I was choking it out of power
and I raised the IMC to 1.17 as soon as I put it to 1.18 it goes yellow in the bios
and I could put it to 200.. but I have a feeling it would push the voltage up. So.. not gonna push it. I think I have a stable 3.6 now
and I took LLC off.. it lowered the voltage significantly.

Any other thoughts on this? or Is the 1.4v too high for a 3.6ghz frequency?
