Just kiddin'. Mostly.

No the real heros are the people that are not hacking, yet get called hackers by noobs.

Like today, I was rockin my M60 as support with my bipod. A sniper was aiming at me about to kill me. I could see the glint as he was aiming, could picture his scope on my head. I calmly set up my bipod, aimed at him and started shooting. I got a headshot and killed him from across the map. He called me a hacker, I called him a noob.

But just like the botters in wow who were playing for glider, so will dice find a way to mass detect this hacking program. What makes it so easy is that so many people are using the same hack and paying for it, it's just a matter of time. I regularly see hackers being banned for aimbot and other hacks in the servers I play in. At least 1 or two per hour most of the time.

Lol, i'm a hero, then.

I get it all the time, and sometimes, i get compliments. Othertimes, i get questions like "How do you fly like that?" etc, etc.

Most the time, it's hackusations. So now i film most my games to shame those who do it, as i did here:
I also make the odd video detailing how i fly and giving general tips to newcomers who otherwise would just fly the heli directly over threats and get killed. In addition to that, i've offered to teach people while in game what i know, especially those i think who need it - that includes those who hackusate.

Alot of the time i just get the verbal finger, though.

I quit playing BF3 because of hackers. Even the "trying to be" sneaky ones can be detected. Every now and then the errant "one shot pistol kill with full health while jumping through the air" will happen. By more than one person. I know, I know. Find another server. Oh wait. Same thing.

I'm sure the defenders of hacking will just say I suck at the game...

Whatever.

All I want to know is where are the majority of hackers going to be. On Premium servers or the old servers?

I'm not getting Premium until I know. Not going to put up with the BS and pay money for a "Premium" hacker infested service.

Not Happening.

Aside from an event where a "hacker" was insta-killing everyone on one team in a conquest map, and some random TDM server I accidentally joined where a guy was headshotting everyone in line-of-sight, I haven't had any issues with it in about 4 months.

If I'm in the mood I can usually dominate the scoreboard for any infantry-heavy map. Hacking seems to be nonexistent in all the servers I play regularly, and 99% of the random ones I have joined lately.
If all you play is TDM or Metro, those tend to attract the hackers.

Also, I aim for the head, someone headshotting you repeatedly is not remotely a sign of them cheating. I get accused of cheating all the time, unless I play a server I regular and the admins have gotten to know me. I know many others with similar playstyles as me.

I once got accused of "autoflying" when I was taking the F35 between the buildings in Gulf of Oman and under the bridges. rolleyes.gif
Getting the helicopters under those at high speeds is pretty tricky too.

Some hack, some don't. Simple enough. I guarantee half the people you think are hacking aren't. A lot of people play the game a lot and know the common spot where people go 90% of the time so it's easy to know where you are. Also the key is to leave yourself where you have a wide vision of the field and less angles you can get shot at, I see a lot of people that stand in terrible areas and it makes it easy. Also note that people with good headphones that have a good sound stage (ATH AD-700's) can pinpoint where you are based on footsteps. Granted there are some hackers, but there are also some good players. I think I had 150 hours before I quit, I ran into less than 5 hackers during that entire time and that's joining random servers.

Call me a hacker supporter if you will, I've played enough CS:S to know when someone is hacking and when someone isn't. From the sounds of it, you would call 80% of the CS:S populace hackers.

/rant

OT: Some people hack because it makes them feel special, it's like playing through any game with cheats. It's really cool to feel overpowered, who hasn't played a game with a cheat code or something? You understand how cool it is, and, when you add points and ranks on it, it makes it seem extra cool. We all should know why they cheat, but it's still dumb regardless since you're playing with other people.

You make it sound like a one-shot-wins-all thing. DICE have already detected cheating tools done several ban waves already, but the fact remains that the hackers will always remain 1 step ahead (and this applies to all hacking, not just BF3).
That's why services like ArtificialAiming and FPScheats continue thrive, people pay them money to stay one step ahead of DICE and keep cheating tools functional most of the time. Hacking tools are updated very, very often and in the time it takes DICE to fight back, the hackers are again one step ahead.
The criminals always have the advantage because they always get the first move, THEN the law enforcement can try to address it.

Or, you know, they could simply use a tool which spots and highlights all enemies on the map. No matter how much of a BF3 veteran you are, you will NEVER be able to identify a hacker who is playing smartly. Heaven knows how much damage I could wreck up if I simply knew where enemies were - no aimbot, no damage increases, no teleporting around the map - just knowing each enemy's location would be enough to top scoreboards.

But I agree that atleast half the hacking accusations hold no weight, there are many players who simply know what they're doing and do it damn well. Unfortunately these talented players get their reputation blackened by the existence of "good" players who are using subtle cheats and that's what is so frustrating about this whole matter.

I'm sorry, I can't sympathize with some cry baby that whines about him not having an out in his "real life" to justify himself ruining others gaming experience in their real life. Online gaming or not, its a thing people do in their real lifes. This guy is basically saying, "Since I can't go around, slap people in the face at work, set houses on fire and can't speed because I'll get a ticket, I cheat in online games to relieve my frustration, which justifies it."

Yeah, it's crap and even more so, pathetic. Just another example of a guy with short man syndrome that only goes online for the anonymity, not having to answer for his actions and to overall just grief other people who are genuinely just trying to enjoy some gameplay in the daily "Real life". Games are an activity done in the daily lives of many, its a hobby some people take great pride in, as with anything. Why would you want to disturb these people just trying to relieve their own stress, doing so in a fair way to the others trying to relieve there's after pulling a 10 hour work shift getting treated like crap. Cheaters are selfish, that's all there is to it and to justify writing an article about "a cheaters side of the story" it is laughable at best, it's a no brainer (literally).

Also to say they're the "Steroid Users of Video Games" is an Insult to even the people that use steroids...because atleast they have to put forth effort and try, steroids aren't just a magical button/command that makes them run a 4 minute mile.

Also, bad on Kotaku for even writing an article in such poor taste. Even going as far as giving free publicity to the "hack" maker at the end of the article. rolleyes.gif

Im short and I don't cheat, lie, or steal. I take objection to you calling it short man syndrome. I suck at video games but I still enjoy them. When Im getting the crap kicked out of me I have not once in the past 20 years, even in the Doom and Dukenukem days, thought of cheating.

It is pathetic but it has nothing to do with short man syndrome. Thankyou very much.

Its definitely lame but I think the parallels to steroid users is accurate in the source article. Some people play the game legitimately and some cheat/use steroids. I think the same mindset that makes people cheat/abuse steroids in sports, even if they get caught in doping tests, is the same mindset that cheaters are in when they cheat in an online competition, even if they get caught by anti-cheating measures.

I think this "article" is the equivalent of saying "We don't denounce or endorse cheats, but if you want to buy them here are the links", I.E., basically an advertisement for cheat websites.

It doesn't have anything to do with being short, unless you are treating that as a metaphor for sucking, in which case I think you should just say that they suck instead of saying that they are short. thumb.gif
