Feedback from other EC1 evo owners?

I had my EC1 evo for approx 3 weeks. It just glitched on me though and I can't use it anymore. I want to get another one, but I wanna know if this is an issue other people have experienced with this mouse before I plunk another 60 dollars down.

Here is what happens: Mouse, motionless, starts to jitter like crazy regardless of pad, nobody touching it. This jitter gets more and more extreme as you let it sit there. Then the cursor starts to progressively move in a random direction. You can pick the mouse up and set it down again and it will be good for a while. Then it will start to jitter in little circles and progress back to the end state.

Anyone else have an issue with their evo losing it's mind after a couple weeks?

Same thing happened to me after just 4 days. The RMA they sent me came from their factory in China or something and took 2 weeks. That one lasted a whole 17 days before the same thing happened. Sent it back, told them to keep it and I just want a refund because the merchant that I bought it from only offered a 30 day return policy..... still to this day haven't heard a response back after 4 emails.

I've heard on another Quake forum that people have purchased the EC1 evo only to find NOTHING was inside.... no sensor, no board, no switches, no nothing..... official word from zowie was that a bad batch of only 1000 got out without anything inside. lol?

you can take a chance but if it was me i'd get a SS mouse or the G400. if you must have a 3090 sensor, i have personally been using a valor which I love and a deathadder some time to time. both have lasted me well over a year (4 years for the DA!) and both have great built quality/durability.

lol recommending a valor instead.

Please don't buy that mouse OP. Just don't. Case in point, the huge thread on the Valor on this forum.

But I haven't had this issue with my ec1 or ec2, but I guess some might and doesn't sound like its unique. RMA it.

use it for 2 weeks and it works flawlessly so far.
not wobble or jitter

I'm using it with QcK Heavy

I got the ec1 evo but the g400 is just as good if not better... i think zowie is overpriced garbage.

Well, I own an EC1 black and an EC1 blue edition. They both work fine. I got the EC1 blue as I wanted the rubberized sides and I love the mouse. I only splurged on the EC1 evo on a whim cause I had the cash and wanted to try the new sensor. I liked it, but it broke on me after a couple weeks as described above. I take pretty absurd measures to care for my mice and the cables so I don't understand what happened. When I have some time I might tear it open and swap the cable from my original EC1 black and see if it's just a wonky cable. I used to do that with my IME 3.0 when the cable would go bad...

I was just curious if others have experienced this issue, and whether or not I just got a bad mouse, or whether this is a consistent issue with the new evo editions.

I've never had a problem with a Zowie mouse either. Were they original or evo editions? I still got my EC1 blue and black originals so it's not l'm in a bind, I just feel like I wasted 60 bucks and I REALLY want that sensor. Overall, I felt the 3090 sensor was comparative to the 3060 in the previous EC series mice...but I still kinda gave it a slight edge when it was working.

Thanks for the advice, but I swore off logitech after the disaster that was my g500. I like puretrak, but I have heard nothing but build quality issues with the valor. As to SS, I've never tried. None of the mouse shells appeal to my grip style and I hear a lot of up and down quality issues with them as well. I guess I will just stick with my EC1 blue edition for right now...

I am currently using the Ec2 Evo and I absolutely love it. The only issue I've had was the wobbly mouse wheel. They opened the new mouse to see if the mouse wheel wobbles before they ship me a replacement. A+ customer support if you ask me. thumb.gif

I've had mine since its US release. I've had no problems. Using on a Puretrak Talent or a Xtrac Ripper XXL.
