Hello guys,

i have a little problem with a pc i am putting togeather, the cpu is a sempron 3000+ 2100mhz, or so i was led to beleave, but the pc is only showing the cpu as 1300mhz

heres a shot

dose this mean that if i set the fsb clock in the bios to 166 i will get full power out of this cpu, or will that fry it

i know nothing about overclocking and this is the second machine that this has happend to, with the last one i put it down to a incompatabilty with the cpu and the mobo, (aperently some sempron chips do this ?) or so i was told at some forum, but i want this one to work properly (its going to be a gaming machine)

any help or advice would be great.....thanks in advance Dino

Indeed set the FSB to 166 to obtain the stock clock speed. By the way it runs 2.0Ghz at stock.

thanks, that was a relatively painless task, but it is now showing as a athlon xp 3000, as with the last pc i had this trouble with, i was told that sempron cpu's are built on athlon technology so some older boards recognize them as athlon ?
but im happy that is now giving 2.17mhz

but, now im wondering, what can i get out of this cpu, because there might be a incompatabilty isseu, would it be safe to overclock it, and if i increase the fsb what else do i have to change,

i attached a cpu-z txt dump, if its any help

and again.....any help or advice would be great.....thanks in advance, Dino
