128GB (8X16GB) ECC Registered Memory

Thread Starter
Where can I get a setup of 128GB (8x16GB)??

This is for the Z9PE-D8 WS which says it can support

8 x DIMM, Max. 64GB, DDR3 2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 MHz ECC, Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory
Quad Channel Memory Architecture
*For Registered Memory, Max. 256GB DDR3 1600/1333/1066/800 MHz

Thanks!

Based on availability right now, your best bet will be to pick up two 64GB kits of Kingston Value RAM (4 x 16GB) rated for the board. This will give you a matched kit for each processor, plus these are the only 16GB modules on Asus' memory QVL at the moment.

Direct from Kingston - $857.00 each
http://www.kingston.com/us/memory/search/Default.aspx?DeviceType=7&Mfr=ASU&Line=Z9%20Server%20Board&Model=76640

Provantage - $766.03 each (special order)
http://www.provantage.com/kingston-technology-kvr16r11d4k4-64~4KIN91W6.htm

You might be able to come up with some slightly less expensive options if you reference the QVLs for C602 boards from other vendors (e.g. Supermicro's Dual Xeon, Socket R lineup); but the trick will be finding them in matched kits, and it will leave you in untested waters.

The only other option I can think of would be to call Crucial. They weren't showing any 16GB modules for this board, but there is a chance they may still have them. If that's the case, they have put together matched sets of modules in quantities of 8 (and more) for me in the past.

I hope that helps out.

will this it work for a MSI Big Bang-XPower II LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 XL ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS? (from Newegg) I plan on hopefully buying this board when it comes down a bit in price, but id like to max it out as far as its rated Max ram capacity. (It claims to support 128Gb)
