Any hope for CDs w/ damaged inner rims?

I ordered a dvd set and the first disk can't be read b/c the rim is damaged. So, the disk just spins loosely in the drive. Has any1 had any luck fixing this? Thanks,

Niklas

What do you mean? As in that it can't get touch on it (CD not spinning, but motor does), or that that it just sometimes get grip of it? Both can (often) be helped by putting tape (You need to cut it, obviously) in the inner ring.

maybe get another CD....make a template for where the rim SHOULD be....then use something to make the shape back...cept it's gotta be perfectly balanced.

Or, send it back. Getting a damaged disc, isn't cool.

Yeah...that's not cool. Good luck repairing that. If you had a precision lathe, you could fill in the hub with acrylic and ream out the center.

I work for a CD company. The center hole is called the ID (inner diameter). This is a very common problem making CD's or DVD's. We have problems with ruff ID's or a lip around the ID. Sometimes shrinkage, that makes the ID to small.

We don't repair these defects in any way, we trash them.

So depending on the defects you have, you may be able to use a dremel on them. Although I think this is unlikely! The disk will not spin correctly.

Sorry, but you bought some trash.

You need to look into a refund or exchange.

Thanks for all your replies! I even got one from a cd companY! The tape suggestion seems possible, and the tool suggestion but I don't have any of those. It's just the first disc of a dvd set and it won't spin in my computer's dvd rom drive. But it does spin in the 1x speed of my dvd player! Just as long as I don't ff or rewind, i think it'll play alright. Still, I'm asking for a new one, but you know ebay power sellers Thanks again
