Quote:
Receiver was created for the 7-day FPS challenge to explore gun handling mechanics, randomized levels, and unordered storytelling. Armed only with a Colt 1911 A1 and an audiocassette player, you must uncover the secrets of the Mindkill in a building complex infested with automated turrets and hovering shock drones

Download Here!

Incredible. The man literally flipped the entire genre on it's head.
Playing as the gun? THAT'S FREAKING GENIUS! drool.gif

I LOVE the idea of absolutely no hud. Wanna know how many bullets you have left, then take the damn clip out and see!

That looks amazing!

I'd like to see some hands holding it though, but if that was made in 7 days...redface.gif wow!
Great concept.

Only problem is how do you progress in this game? It's like randomized hardcore mode from Diablo3.

The lack of hud thing isn't new but finally someone made it more realistic in regards to the guns and you have to check them yourself.

Looks interesting for a 7 day game.
While the mechanics are interesting, they're not really useful for a fast-paced shooter and will thus not make it into any competitive FPS game. I could see the ammo checking and slide manipulation being used in a survival game with no HUD, but I don't see when it'd be useful to have the safety or pulling back the hammer since, you know, you're controlling the thing with your mouse. Pulling back the hammer would be useful in a real life situation, because it makes it easier to shoot accurately, but when you're basically just clicking to fire, I don't see the point.

I bought a copy for 5 bucks off amazon, and i must say what a fun and new way to absorb yourself into the actual game. I've only played about 15 mins of it but the game mechanics, sorry, "gun" mechanics are spot on and its just a matter of time before you dont need the help menu and can go through the motions of Eject Clip, Holster Weapon, Load 8 bullets, Unholster, Load Clip, Slide lock, Pull hammer, UnSafety. Once you get the key comands downs and memorized its just like playing a piano, just reloading a gun on a keyboard.

Very fun and very small size. This is going on my Thumbdrive of "Stand-Alone" games i can play anywhere on the go.

Very innovative and a good breath of fresh air, but not my kind of game.
