I'm about to pull the trigger on a pixel perfect Potalion for $320 via BCC and I was just wondering if the SquareTrade warranty actually works for this product and how much it would cost. On the product page it offers me the warranty for $49.99 (3 years), can I get it through that?

According to squaretrade's site, they will cover the monitors, but I had heard reports that it wouldn't be covered due to these items not being intended for the US Market.

Perhaps someone with a bit better experience would like to chime in, because this information is VERY relevant to my interests. I'm planning on purchasing one of these monitors soon...

It'd be great if someone with the Squaretrade warranty either got in contact with them and asked, or attempted to put in a claim just to see what happens.

I sent an email request, asking the same question on the same item I called them on, and got basically the same response:

Thank you for contacting SquareTrade.

As you may know, unlike other warranty providers, SquareTrade offers coverage for new, refurbished and used items. In order to offer this coverage, we have to ensure that the items we are covering are in good working condition, arrive fully functional, and are able to function for 45 days. In addition, we can't offer coverage on any item that's already defective, damaged, or malfunctioning (that is, any item that has a "pre-existing condition").

Unfortunately, the listing of the eBay item 150819190880 states that the Monitor has Dead Pixel. We will not be able to offer coverage on this item.

I apologize for the confusion caused.

For future reference please keep in mind that we offer warranties on new and refurbished consumer electronic items and home appliances purchased from a retail store or retail website within the last 90 days, and eligible new, refurbished, and used items from eBay within 30 days of auction ending.

I then sent them a ebay number for a "perfect pixel" model, and this is the response I got:

The eBay item number (140757463601) provided is eligible for our coverage.


So, they view the dead pixel stuff in the listing as a "as-is" or already defective unit.

Hmm interesting, so buying a pixel perfect monitor not only gets you the "pixel perfectness" but also the ability to buy warranty...
I think I might be getting a pixel perfect after all, might be worth the extra $20-30

I wanted an Achieva Shimian, but bigclothcraft did not offer a "perfect pixel" version. I went with the Potalion, as the best offer price he accepted was basically what I was going to pay for a non-perfect pixel Shimian.

They do but I'd suggest you email them, because that might not be the right warranty. I emailed them and they said they would cover it but their quote was higher. 55 for 1 year 84 for 2 years.

And yes I bought the perfect pixel Potalion
