Anyways, OP, if your cooler doesn't specify LGA2011 mounting then it's 99.9% not making correct contact. I built over 200+ systems since the i7 920 C0's came out and never had any of them running above 80c overclocked up to 5.2ghz (SB) 4.4ghz (920 D0's) or any other i5 or i7. Get a cooler that fits LGA2011 and you will be good thumb.gif
I overclock and I am 13.

Custom would be way better and you can add GPU cooling later. I have a XSPC cpu block that does way better than the H80 I used to have . I tried to use the Thermaltake pump on the XSPC block and the flow was so bad it was 5c hotter than the H80.
After taking my time and doing research I was able to build a loop that works. i5 3570 K at 4.7 max 84c on prime95 2x 7970 at 1300/1800 39c after 1 hour BF3.

It does apply because 1 thing the i7 920 has the 3820 doesn't have is a higher tollerance for heat.

The i7 920 goes FU at 104 degress C about 14 degrees higher than the 3820.

It means the 3820 has a tighter heat tollerance.

The fact they are 2 different technologies doesn't change thermal properties of the relative CPU's.... the i7 920 is known to run stable at much higher temperatures than the Sandy's would.

I'm not debating custom is better. And I've used a custom setup before.... and then stopped using watercooling right after it cost me $1300 because everyone said distilled water was good to go as a replacement liquid coolant.

Guess what NO WATER BASED coolant is good for PC application if the system leaks.

I'm currently talking to an industrial level coolant application company to find out if they have a non conductive dielectric petroleum based product to fit the tollerances and sensitivity of PC components. If they don't have it they can engineer a solutions.

Yes it could run me as much as $2000/gallon. But if it gives me 100% fail safe chance then it's worth the every penny. It will pay for itself in just 1 event of system failure.

I refuse to use over the counter liquid coolants or any variation of it because of this reason. I will not make a custom system until I know I have access to a coolant that is 100% failsafe.

Incidently the old custom cooling solution I had was of Koolance variety.

We did establish that 2 pages ago.

But, thank you for pointing it out again.

And before anyone says anything I know mineral oil can be used, however mineral oil does NOT have the same thermal conductivity properties of water.

In short it's worse for heat disipation through a radiator by a large margin.

Oh yes it can... if you get the right pump for it.

OP: Are you using the proper LGA2011 mounting hardware?
Also, in all seriousness have you made sure that the pump is running?

I'm seriously about to give up. This incredible level of ignorance and him ignoring every sane response is driving me crazy. He'd rather spend $2000 a gallon on some liquid (that still wont protect his computer and won't work as well as water for cooling) than spend $0-5 to buy the CORRECT MOUNTING BRACKET.
