CoolerMaster CM690II rad support?

Thread Starter
Can the 690II support a 240 radiator up top and a 120 in the back?
Thanks.

Pics would be helpful and welcome too smile.gif

You should be able to fit another 240 on the bottom, no?

Seems like there would be plenty of room for a 240 as you can see how much space there is left with a 120.

I have a rasa rs 240 up top and thats the biggest rad you can put in there thickness wise. You can only put fans in the upper compartment otherwise it interferes with components from the motherboard. One issue you might run into is alot of motherboards have the 8pin power connector going right next to the rear exhaust fan. This might not allow you to mount a 120 radiator back there. Another thing to consider is if you put the 240 up top and the 120 where the rear is, your 120 radiator will overflow into the 240s fin coverage. It will block about an inch of the 240s surface area so it sort of defeats the purpose of getting another radiator.

If I were you I would consider mounting an extra 240 on the bottom or even a 120 on the front intake rather than trying to get one going out the rear.

Yes, you can fit a thin 240 up top, thick 240 on bottom, and a 120 in the back. There are a couple catches however. With the 240 up top, depending on mobo, the fans may have to go up above. With my ASRock Extreme4 the heatsinks don't allow room for the fans on the bottom of the rad. If you put a 240 on the bottom the PSU has to be 160mm or shorter I believe. I haven't tried a 120 in the back but there should be plenty of room and I have seen pics with them in the CM thread.

Here's my rig with a RS240 up top.

I would need the drive cages, so i can't have a 240 on the bottom. I have the extreme3 gen3 mobo...
The rad in question IS an RS240 and RS120. So those will fit without issue in the top / back slots?

Based on Blazed's pic, it looks like it will.

Another question, do the drive cages just come out, or are you guys de-riveting them?

I can't say 100% sure about the 120 since I don't have one but just looking in there I see no reason why it wouldn't fit. There's plenty of room in there.

Sounds good. Even if it dosen't fit in the back, will it fit on that bottom fan slot?

The bottom HDD cage can be removed by taking out some screws. I'm not sure if it would fit down there with the cage still in. Here's a couple more pics so you can see the space up top.

Pay no mind to the poor cell pics and the discolored "clear" tubing. tongue.gif

Looks like there is plenty of room. I think it should fit, and if it doesn't i could always hang it off the back as a last resort.
Another question, there is no room for push/pull on the top rad, right? Not a big deal is there isn't.
It all depends on the mobo. I have seen it done but with the 2 mobo's I've had in there neither would work in push/pull. Either the top heatsinks or RAM slots got in the way.
