Nvidia GT 525m Overclocking help

I have a dell xps15 (L502x) with i5 2430m processor
I have been following some guides on you tube to overclock it using msi afterburner
but my core clock wont go above 600MHz? what is wrong?
i can set it to more but it just resets back to 600MHz when i run Furmark?
also what are the safe temps for the 525m

Do not, i repeat DO NOT overclock a mobile video card.
Its just wrong and may end damaging it

Dont listen to this guy,
I not only overclocked my gtx 260m, i volt modded it so i could over clock it more, and i overclocked the cpu to 3ghz(stock 2.53 c2d)
Download MSi afterburner and increase the clocks a bit at a time and stress test with 3dmark or uni heaven. also check out notebookreview

Are you saving the oc settings to a profile and applying them at startup? Simply moving the sliders without saving them to a profile will do nothing and would explain why they reset when you run Furmark. My Asus G53JW's 460m oc'ed to 800/1600/1500 no problem. I use this just as an example that mobile gpu's can be oc'ed. Your laptops cooling will be the deciding factor. Asus ROG laptops have exceptional cooling.

lol, i OC'ed my XPS L702X's gt555m to the max! it depends on the laptop bro, stop posting false info

you have to click APPLY, and APPLY OVERCLOCKING AT SYSTEM STARTUP

Maybe try EVGA Precision. I noticed in my dell L401x that I can only OC my 420m to 650MHz core on Afterburner, but in Precision, I can OC it to 800MHz. It doesn't change the core voltage of the chip so your maybe only going to see a 1-2C increase in temps, nothin big. The mobile series chips seem to be good overclockers.

However, I can overclock my 420m to a 550m speed but it only increases my gaming performance by like a few %, nothing like the 60% overclock that I can achieve. Kinda disappointing...
