If your having random crash to desktop while playing Battlefield 3 using an Nvidia card, here's the fix...

Do this to fix the issue that's been around for a while now.

Goto Nvidia control panel > Profile settings > Battlefield 3 > Change the Power management setting to Prefer Maximum Performance.
Enjoy crash less Battlefield 3 thumb.gif

Is it weird then that my PC doesn't crash on BF3? I just have an issue with it not always launching on the first try.

After the first few weeks after launch, until the first week or two of June, I NEVER had crashes. If I did it was a one-off issue.
Now it's completely predictable to occur somewhere between 30 seconds and 20 minutes.

I have tried numerous fixes and new drivers and retooling OC's and voltages and everything. "Prefer max performance" is something I've had enabled for along time (a few driver releases back this was very much necessary with the 560 Ti's).

I haven't tried playing single-card, but I play triple-monitor so I kind of need it for my resolution. I should try single-monitor with just one card (SLI disabled).. but I don't want to. lol

There will come a day in age, where our computers will tell us why it crashed... That way we can have a remedy instantaneously!!
Just wait for it, not too long now.

Not a single crash here with my GTX 580. But I have to crash and restart Origin from time to time because it fails to load BF3.
