Need 3.5mm or USB Gaming Headset for $80 or less

Hey guys i need some recommendations on a good gaming head set. It can be either 3.5mm, usb or both. needs integrated mic. I would like to spend $80 or less. Wanted to know what everyone else uses/likes so I can make an informed decision.

Thanks for the help!

I'm leaning towards the RAZER Carcharias for $68

Or the Corsair Vengeance 1500 for $70 after mir

Both look like good headsets, although the 1500s are digital while the RAZERs are analog. Reviews reveal slight quality control issues with both. The 1500s seem to be a tight fit for most, but I have a small head so im not too concerned. I've dealt with Corsair rebates and customer service before and had a positive experience, love their products too.

TL;DR anyone have first hand experience with either of the headsets listed above?

You might also want to consider the SteelSeries Sibera v2. i'm not an audiophile or anything, but the pair I have sounds amazing in games, music, and movies.

These didn't cross my radar in my brief search, but I am liking what i see, similar in price to the 1500s plus i wouldn't have to deal with a rebate. The red or white would look so baller next to my tower. Do you have the 3.5mm or usb version?

I've got the USB version but I never use the included sound card as the quality is absolutely atrocious and I kid you not. I've got my headset directly plugged directly into an X-fi sound card and the quality is absolutely phenomenal. Again, I'm not an audiophile or anything. One thing to note however is that even though SteelSeries markets this headset for gaming, I've found that it works quite well with music and movies as well. I listen to flac quality music quite frequently and they sound great.

I thought that usb dongle looked like crap. I went a head and ordered the SS Siberia v2 in red, love the way this set looks, and the retractable mic is a nice touch. Plus the SS V2s have fewer reviews mentioning quality issues than the 1300s

USB audio is just horrible from my experience. Also totally by-passes any sound card you have... which is a dedicated chip for audio processing.

I got the SS Siberia V2 when they were on sale for $40.. check slickdeals.net for sales on headsets and such. Anyways these do the job for me, lightweight and comfortable. thumb.gif
