Case mod/painting - Page 2

Thanks for that link, AlderonnX.

CN Darkside, I've thought about the USB 3 upgrade, is there anything special you have to do with it? Or does it just need different cables running there? I plan on painting the inside a little bit, and I think I'm going to dremel the back of it to make the cpu backplate easier to mess with when the time comes.

As to update the build log, my friend who was designing the artwork, fleed to North Carolina for a week so i'm without him for a while. However I've been bouncing the idea of dark blue vs a fire red color for the theme in my head. What are your guys' thoughts on a blue color? (Seriously thinking blue is better, can't find very many red cable sleeves that aren't pink)

Going to be looking at websites for some cable sleeving, and start tearing apart the build for pre-paint and such.

Yeah most "red" sleave looks pink or orange under UV in my experience. redface.gif
And the USB 3 could be done easy with one of these http://www.frozencpu.com/products/14829/cpa-611/Lian_Li_PW-IS40AV85AI0_Multi-Media_IO_Ports_Kit_w_USB30_x_4_e-SATA_x1_HD_Audio_MIC_EAR_PW-IS40AV85AI0.html?tl=g43c241#blank

You would just have to make a new IO panel out of aluminium or some other material. biggrin.gif

Unfortunately it looks like I won't be able to take a look at your link, it tells me that "this session has expired" in anything I open it with lol. Is there another link you could provide?

Try this one http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/product/product06.php?pr_index=591&cl_index=2&sc_index=50&ss_index=131&g=f
If you search the Model "PW-IS40AV85AI0" you may find it elsewhere

Sorry for the late response, but that's really cool. Do you know if that fits exactly where the haf 932 front panel goes? To me, this is a much better front panel, as it has a firewire 400 on the front, and my mobo doesn't have one for the front panel.

A small update, but one nonetheless, got the panel over to my friends house last night for a quick look at how we can do the artwork. I think I might start taking stuff apart tonight to get it prepped for painting, still need to go out and get the right color of paint too.

I doubt the front panel will fit perfectly to the haf without some effort going into moding something. but I would think you could do it easy mode by cutting out the normal io cover of plastic and replacing it with a custom one.

I'm thinking I may just try to replace the usb ports on it since I like the look of the i/o panel. But since my mobo doesn't have a firewire header on it, I have to either cut that cable out, or find something else to do with it. hmmm...
