Help Me Switch To Offset Voltage!

Thread Starter
I finally guesstimated some settings for a 4.8GHz OC and now I got it stable with 1.455v (probably could go lower). Now I have read 2 or 3 guides on how to "offset" but I simply can't understand it. Would somebody be so kind as explain it in simpler terms for me? My VID in Realtemp with P95 going is 1.3761 and CPU-z shows 1.448(jumps to 1.456 occasionally).

What you are experiencing is probably vdroop or LLC/ Load Line Calibration related.

I lowered my offset so I idle at 0.9v and then I used additional turbo voltage to get where I wanted my vcore. But the huge jumps can lead to occasional BSODs according to some people. I haven't experienced any. I also have C3/C6 enabled unlike other people.

I have 1C - 46x

2C - 45x

3C - 44x

4C - 43x

I would go by the CPU-Z reading. 1.45v sounds more realistic for 4.8GHz

All I can say is keep reading guides.

Easy way is to set to +.050v and then load prime for a min and see where your voltage goes in cpuZ. Then adjust accordingly up or down as needed to get your 1.455v.

That's a lot of Vcore for a 4.8ghz overclock on that chip. You may need to adjust some mobo settings to bring it down. Post up your Digi+ Vrm settings and I'll tell you what to change. No Tprobe for 4.8ghz. Set phase to Extreme (this is one that will bring Vcore down a bunch) if it's not already.

LLC set to Ultra High

It's pretty easy. The voltage shown by cpu-z is your vcore after Vdroop (because you're under load). If 1.455 is what you have set as your Vcore in bios, then just go 1.455 - 1.3761 = .0789. So try a +.08 offset and set C1E and speedstep to enable so your cpu can downclock and undervolt when not under load.

Offset = Vcore-VID

Is it really that much voltage for 4.8? I'll post pics in a minute.

Yeah I'd say that's pretty high as I've had a few that done 5ghz with 1.344-1.392

I blame the P67 mobo....

EDIT: I'm slowly lowering my voltage in manual as when I tried to switch it to a .08 offset and I crashed instantly with a 124.

Put a USB flash drive in the back of your mobo and hit "F12" in the bios for your Digi+ Vrm settings like I said before. Post the screen shot and we'll see if there's a few things you can do to get lower Vcore.

That's a little much on the VCCIO even with 16gigs of ram. I'd try raising your CPU PLL to 1.700v and see how low you can go with Vcore and see what happens.I've never got better results with less than 1.7v but others have gone down to 1.500-1.550v. On manual mode with Vcore, I'd set C3 & C6 to Enabled and see how your temps change too. You should get way better idle temps and they will be closer core to core. With offset mode you will want to Disable C3 & C6 to prevent idle BSOD's.
