ive heard rumors that those results with tweaked tesselation will be dismissed/invalidated sometime soon... we'll see if that happens

If this is any indication of what a gtx 680 can do with voltage control then the 7970 is going to be in trouble unless their ghz edition can do 1.4ghz+ clocks easily as this card is probably going to do 1.4ghz.

This is like arguing trickle down economics, but that never worked. Just like here, record smashing has so little to do with our everyday realities.

Would be the first I've heard of this, I don't think it will happen though.

Are you going to pay $700 for this card?
Can normal 680s do this?
Do normal 680s have voltage control?

You can pay less by buying the 680 Lightning with software (afterburner OC tool), with the 680 Classified, you have to use a $100 proprietary EVBot

Not with some serious voltmods, even a binned ref. 680 with extra VRM PCB (EPowerBoard) only hits 1.8-ish GHz

Hard to say, the 680's is seriously locked down (at least as of now). But the guys at MSi and Rivatuner is maybe working on this, since MSi 680 reference promises voltage tweak, so I guess maybe in the future

ON TOPIC, what do you think of the 680 Lightning? Will it reach higher clockspeeds than this classified?

He's the definitive fanboy. Every post is either hailing the greatness of the 680 or denouncing the inferior amd card. At least he's consistent.

Btw, videocardz.com be trollin us with incorrect info making the 680 seem godlike.

What do you mean by this? They plan on allowing you to adjust the references through Afterburner? I haven't heard anything on that. Or do you mean the Lightning?

IIRC, vince made a comment to that affect about a week or so ago, well before this record was even set.. cant remember if i read it on kpc or hwbot forums

How do we really know if the lightning will get software voltage control? Didn't they say that it was going to get it in the new afterburner but they lied?

If the lightning gets software voltage control it would by far be the better buy as you wouldn't have to buy the EVbot. As for clock speeds, I bet on regular cooling (water/air) they will pretty much be the same, except for the fact that more people will probably buy the lightning for the software voltage control if it is implemented. As for on ln2 I think it is just whoever gets lucky.
