Need Urgent Emergency help! =(

Thread Starter
Every watercooler's nightmare just became my reality...
Just installed a new block (memory block, just for looks tongue.gif) fired up the computer and all seemed good.
Computer was running for 5 minutes so I went downstairs for a smoke.
When I came back... my screens were off.

After taking a closer look I saw one of the tubes came lose and started dripping all over my graphics cards...
So... What do I do now??

I'm scared speechless with shaking hands...
Are those cards gone??
Will they work again once they dry?
I'm using pre-mixed EK water if it's relevant.

Any help that you can give me is HIGHLY appreciated... sad-smiley-002.gif

Take that gfx out and let it dry! Plug it in later one maybe 12 hours later see if works, even better try using a hair dryer for a short amount of time, just make sure you don't overheat it.

Don't panic. I'm sorry to say, but if it leaked enough on the card, then yes they may be gone. If it is non-conductive water, then you have a bigger chance of saving it.

Now to possibly fix the graphics card - Let it sit for 2 hours in room temperature. Don't put a fan/hairdryer on it because that will just spread the water around and make it worse!!. Then use a cotton swab or an qtip and dip it in some rubbing alcohol and clean it. I would take the heatsink off to do this. BE CAREFUL. They may work when they are dry. Most likely, they will.

IF everything you do fails, contact the card manufacturer and just explain to them what happened. See if they can send you a new one.

Best of luck smile.gif

I did leaktest.
Sadly I must have been too rough with some of the tubes that were already in place because one of them came loose and started dripping... So stupid -_-

no leak test=fail

i had this happen to me. it was a compression fitting then one day about 3 weeks after my loop was put together. I had a hose come off. anyhow got the gpu soaked. dried it up and it worked
post #9 of 39
It happens even to the professional water coolers, word of advice I like to do leak testing for at least 24 hours, before i actually boot the system up.
