MSI are usually good. EVGA is the best for customer support lol.

16/11 silver compression fittings.
They are very very good but when I installed everything I felt overconfident and got careless.
So the fitting I unplugged to drain the loop wasn't tightened and must have slipped off since the pump was running at full power.

Don't have any experience with their costumer support tbh.
For some reason I'd feel safer if I had EVGA cards x.x

In my past experience with broken parts as long as the damage and scenario are reasonable they will usually replace it. Just don't try to make it sound to extreme. Just hope they don't say that because it was water cooling that it was user error and not help but Good luck:thumb:

Right now the card is covered in rice (still seems like an odd thing to do) so I'll check if it works when I get home from work in 6 hours.
I'm still hoping that the backplate saved my card because the card itself wasn't really soaked.
The backplate however had a nice puddle on top so I'm really hoping that that 25£ piece of metal saved the day smile.gif
Also picked up a bottle of alcohol so hopefully it'll help.
If it works I'm guessing I'll need new thermal pads right ?
But if it doesn't work can I get it repaired under warranty?

If you clean it up really good - and it doesnt look like there was water damage, how would they know? Get rid of all evidence (delete this thread) and go for the RMA
post #36 of 39
so the solution then is to ditch the case, get a workbench, and mod the workbench so we can suspend the motherboard upside down smile.gif

So as of now I otficially declare 1 of the cards dead. Tried it this morning and it doesn't work.

1 thing that still kinda worries me though...
The card that is seemingly working has been acting strange as of late.
When I play starcraft 2 (only game I played since the leak) the screen will go black and the audio sounds exactly like what you would hear durning a BSOD.
Then, after maybe 2 seconds the black screen goes away and starcraft is very very framedroppy until I restart it.

Sounds like a driver issue although I don't really have experience with a card that was soaking in water.

This happened with 301.10 drivers.
This morning I installed the new beta drivers so we'll see.

Any chance this might be related to water damage though ?

sorry to hear about your leak. Definately not a good situation- Hopefully MSI will take care of you with a replacement.

Not sure what to say about the hopefully working card. see how it works over they next couple days. If there was any water residue on the card, it should evaporate form the heat that the card produces. Good luck from a fellow watercooler wink.gif

This also happened to me lately when I spilled distilled water inside my case as well as the gtx 580s (with backplate) while filling up the loop. doh.gif

What I did was, I removed every component and air dried the whole case. I did this because I suspected static on my parts as well as the case. I also placed some masking tapes on the screws of the motherboard tray after drying then reassembled my rig. Since then, my system ran flawleslly.thumb.gif
